  11. have used tobacco stalks for No. years ,i find them excellent & as jimmy says no nasties to be found......last year also used shredded paper with tobacco stalks & that semed to work well also ............also put a beermat dipped in creosote ( alowed to dry) underneath nest bowl ............act as a " nastie" deterrent

  17. totally agree with -dovescot-,exellent example to pigeon fancying by steph & well done " grit & tenacity", i will definetly join,tried few times already but still getting error ,but will persevere.... all should back her up & show encouragement to an up & coming young fancier .............
  18. darknight don't PACK UP', there are ways /means round everything, i started by dividing garden shed in 1/2 ,1 side for birds ,other side for tools etc ..........birds where fine . there was a scribe in the bhw ....who flew his birds to individual rabbit hutch set up , admittedly was to elimante aggravating chest complaint ..so didnt have to enter a loft .. known people fly to boxes on flat balconys ...........STICK IN THERE ............
  19. totally agree coal dust is full minerals,used to be a favourite years ago as source minerals ,well before ,they started producing the black minerals etc .... yes true about pregnant women eating coal ....wife did ,but kids are ??... ;D ;D ;D
  20. definetely a gazzi modena ( poss, sulphur laced ) or ochre .., they are fine in a section just containing modenas ,have had them & reeked havoc now history....some modena fanciers use single breeding pens for each pair ..( nice if got space )........
  21. started with pigeons since age 5,been involved with them since 50yrs now,started with my gt g/father who had shorts (milers) ,which never hear of now...then had the usual assortment birds ( all for colours)...since have raced ( individually & in partnership),shown ,fancy & flying breeds,still very much into showing aspect,but this year also returning to racing side with my 7 yrs g/son who is made keen,(strongly feel youngster need encouragement in a great pastime which is sadly declining + gets them away from computer games )........as said been involved for 50yrs & still learning about them .......... dave & lil jd
