hi, could you tell me how eyesign can tell you the parentage of an individual please...what is it in the eye that links one bird to another?...thanks.

i have recently bought 3 pairs of stock birds of the same strain, 5 of them all seem to have very similar eyes...yellow,the other bird has a pearl/possible violet (looks something like that...im no expert)...as i want to keep the strain pure where will these eyes take me as i have to breed with what i have...what will yellow to yellow give me?will the pairings weaken the racing ability? i would prefer to breed opposites together but cant with what ive got... iris on all eyes are not too overpowering but look fairly strong and 3rd circle is clearly visible...dont know if ive explained this very well .

have a pair of yearlings myself trying to nest on the floor...best to lock them in a nest box over night and keep letting them out during the day if you can keep an eye on them...if they go back to the box lock them in again for a while,if they dont catch them and lock them in...you dont really want them nesting on the floor,if another birds young happens to get out of nest nestbox on to floor they will attack it and could cause it some real damage...

may sound a stupid question but as the iris is of human design,by altering the iris through breeding does it also alter the physique of the birds...dont mean after a couple of rounds of ybs but over a period of time? also can you breed strength into the eyes of the strain that you have without introducing other stock...

thanks eveyone for your advise...used a small grinder to cut through it today,put a strip of masking tape along where i wanted to cut then drew a pencil line along it...grinder went straight through no damage /cracks at all...perfect.thanks all....

ive 3 pairs in a 7x5 and wouldnt like to put any more than 2 more pair in at most...

read about it once that if birds are hopper fed they wont touch it, but once they get the taste of it they love it...

internal mesurements are width 28 3/4 inch...height 14 1/2 inch...and the depth wants to be at least 14 inch..(done mine 18 inch deep so they can walk/ sit along the front)...made mine in 18mm chipboard flooring,good strong boxes but very heavy to lift around and fit on your own....easier to use about 12-14mm????

for what its worth i personally dont think swilcox has done anything wrong,hes just a man auctioning a bird,its not hes fault some bid by pm and others bid by thread reply...he cant please every one.if you have any more birds to sell you sell them,as long as webmaster is happy with it you do it...

i think there is always going to be some controversy over any auction unless rules are stated at the very begining...otherwise people will just assume auction is open to all bids,pm or other...

it could be that the pm bidder wants to keep his bid private between him and the seller and not let every one know how much he/she has paid for the bird ??? just a thought...

i think unless the seller states NO pm bids its right to do it,although its a bit harsh when you are outbid by a pm bidder and you have no chance to up your bid.if the seller states the auction ends at 4 oclock then it should end at 4 on the dot.ive seen auctions where the seller states if there is close bidding near the end it will run an extra 10 mins or so...
