if the animal rights people do visit this board don't you thin kthey would be suprsed at just how many pigeons youse people loose each year to wander the buildings around town starving to death..
-
just throw out a handfull of rat bait !!quickest wya to get rid of it...but i do like the idea of the bob on the box..i'd say that would work
-

i currently have 7 1999 rung birds in my loft and just last week i got two on the drop in front of my young birds...so really if they are healthy and train well why not fly em
-
gee they sound like great birds lmfa onot pull there heads of and put em in the bin
-
i am currently sitting on 11th come on birds ya's can get me up a bit higher tha nthat, lol
-
fair enough it would definatly be stress then..tell me why would you not let the birds who didn't trap well enter the loft?i have allways givin the poor trappers just a few seeds once they do decide to come in that way they get to know that if they come in they will get feed..sort of makes sence to me other wise those who miss out don't know what the yare missing out on.

mate in the pics you posted there looks to be some very loose dropings on the floor?do you medicate your birds? going on what i can see in the dropings in the pics you posted they are not reall nice dropings,,well not how they should be anyhow for fit healthy birds
-
could be due to stress,,try giving them a dose of probac
-
mate i'd send all your young birds to the first two races especially if you have not had the mfar out on training .if you leave it to late the big jump may just be to steep for them..good luck
-
not if you use prime birds you won't!i have inbred like that for many years then just outcross back to a distant relative! start of inbreeding sh** birds and thats all you will breed
-
give em rest don't let them out and let them eat as much fuel type foods as they want
-
you'll find out who is it one day mate !they all run there mouths of when they think all is forgotten..and may they get tortered in the same manner they did to your little warriors of the sky
-
i have let young birds up on there own .15-20 miutes between and have not found much difference in doing it!!because i keep just as many old birds as young i like to let up in three's two old birds and one young .it shore sorts out the young stuff and if they can't keep up they are left behind to fend for thereselfs
-
how will they enter your loft?through bobs or open door?
-
if the pair are in a box and locked in,i cannot see it being a problem if you move them to a simular box ..if not like has been said they'll lay again
-
sounds like they may be going to the fields lol
-
just curious as i have never flagged or seen it done but d oyou wave something towards the loft ect when it looks like they are about to land?
-
bro and sis mating is no different really than mo/son..it will not cause defects in your birds that are not already in the line....inbreeding does not create defects but what it does is bring them to surface..only way you are going to know is try ..what have you to loose?
-
youse people are causing a majority of your losses! if a bird hasn't got it he is not going to come home..start by culling the rediculasly large teams you house ,concentrate on smaller teams and better quality birds.train them right, feed them, medicate them..and you will notice your returns will be much better..a lot of people are very quick t ojump to conclusion and blame many other factors and leave there self out of the aquasion
-
well said mate here in australia our climate ect does play a role in some of our loss's but like i have said to anyone who wants to bring up loss's topic we are doing it .we are breeding pigeons for speed!!!so whe nya's have ya losses don't complai nabout the weather it is your faultthe birds did not return..wether it be from breeding as we say or you sending birds that are not right...i myself have noticed some ofthe birds being sent in my club the last couple week and i must say they are not ready to race..half of them feal like you are holding a hand full oflead and the other half are just undernourished unhealthy, unfit sickly birds..and yet they complain when they do not return?come on..i have not lost one bird this year touch wood. but that is not saying i am not going to loose them..just observe your birds, and make sure you have done everythign posible to make there jurney home a pleasurable one
