the reason being is all the lofts around my area are being broken into including mine 4 times! so i gave my stock away as i dont race birds. not sure why people do it but i had all my whites killed. so thinking of a window box for the birds safety and it requires no outside loft.

hi, not been on here for ages. i have came up with an idea and wanted advice. i want to put a box for 1 pair of horsemen on my roof. my idea is to suspend the box from the attic window. i need advice on how big the box should be and how i would access the box without moving it. i have basic ideas but input would be nice. i thought open hole front, make the roof of the box hinged so as i can clean and feed the birds. its maybe a totally bad idea, and if so please be honest.

i had the same problem with my whites. i was fortunate to know the guy so when my birds were caught i just collected them when he phoned me. practice for his birds, and be aware if your birds dont have rings he CAN keep them. my advice, get to know the guy now rather than when you want your birds back

i get the birds on tuesday so as far as im aware they havn't been paired together yet. is it best to lock the cock in the nest box for a few days then introduce the hens?

when pairing birds up, what sex do you settle to the box first, the cock or the hen? and once the bird is settled how long do you leave it untill you put the other bird in the box?

when i bred fantails the ugliest pairs always produced the best birds...strange.

on that note a fancier gave me 10 birds for nothing. all i had to pay was the courier costs. As mentioned before, new fanciers looking for birds shouldn't have to pay for birds.

its becoming a common problem these days, i would sugest that you look out for them coming back. i would be pi**ed if i had been chewd up like that. (not that i would steal from anyone but if i was in his shoes.

a mate of mine (no realy) is starting up with racing pigeons, as a hobby, doesnt want to join clubs ect. hes just finnished his loft and now needs birds. wondered if any one has youngsters and are over stalked? willing to pay for birds. lives in edinburgh

i can see onto the roof, it must have been hiding in another garden. i will let them out on friday morning

thats very true, just need to settle them back in and ward off the puss puss! the others cant have gone far. there all just youngsters.

and the problem was a fat ginger cat. my naighbour saw it on the loft roof on friday night. must have been hiding most of the day as i was there!

got 6 in and lost 6. presume they have gone to another loft. better luck next time!
