  5. How did i start lets see if i can remember that far back!. My Dad had pigeons as a boy up to the time he was married to Mum, then i came along in 1937, I was in & the pigeons was out then dad was called up as WW2 blow up & he was off to the War like so many others of that time. After the War dad returned from Africa, And in In 1950's the pigeons was once again on his mind, Mum wasn't so keen on them, but after when he went though in the War Mum let him have his own way! Dad got on to start building a pigeon loft in the back yard, the building material was of massive big wooden boxes that parts of machinery was shipped over to the UK my dad got from a friend who worked in the Royal Albert dock in Silver Town. Mum went berzerk as the to lorries dropped them in the middle of our road. just as well it was a blocked turning. & no one had cars them days. We them flow as father & son, But in the late 1950, the Masonic group that owned the area, sold all the area under the slum clearance programme of East London. Dad & Mum was put in a flat but no place to put a pigeon loft. Then in 1980 i got a job with a tide house with a garden & a pigeon loft was put up, we once again raced as father and son. 1st The Manor Park FC, South West Ham FC, Then our last club Laytonstone & Stratford FC. right up to 1988, went my job took me down to the South Coast Of England, where i live now.

  8. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- It is always a good idea to get a Test from the Vet, before you start treating your pigeons. If you don't you are teating for some thing that's not there. The cost £17.34.
  9. Jon, I tryed 6 White Camiel Cardons. I lost every one of them training. My friend got the parents from Frank Tasker at Blackpool BHW Show, Frank was saleing them for a freind of his. I did try the X with my own Whites. No good at all. I some times got a Iron Griz feathering come out in the beeding. The pigeons we had in E/London, Was almost white The M.Verheye Though "Champion Rainstorm"

  13. I have been breeding pure white pigeons for the last 3 years, They are Xs, From Comines From the National Breeding Station Belgium, Rapido Busschaerts Ashtree Lofts, 2 pair of pure whites from Leir Market Belgium. Give a pair to my freind for his wife to race in 2007, They raced the full race programme, The cock went to the London & Southeast Classic in 2008 home in good time. it will be on widowhood for 2009 season, I again bred him 6 young birds for 2008, all flow the young bird season lost one, all coming very well. If any bred a youngster that has a coloured flight, outer them white it has to go. They will be all in the basket next season, they willl have a harder life then they have had in the past. and trying the roundabout! it will be the traill & error of all my work over the 3 years.
  14. If you have a any thing to ask PigeonboyNo1, you go for it.!! Dont mind OLDYELLOW, I think his "Bark is worse then his Bite". I don't think he ment any harm. Now Your Q. As some as said, Try to get them in a Nest box, or box perch, when they are trapped Slowly pick them up, never snatch at them, or grab them to quickly it will only ruflfle them up. Or give them one or two peanuts on the floor & pick them up as they are feeding. As OLDYELLOW said it all takes time.a

  16. I think you can only blame the pigeon Fanciers themself's. For not supporting. Take the Blackpool BWH show, I used to hired & drove a mini bus for 17 years, too the venue, picking up & dropping off people as far as From Eastbourne, Brighton & Somtping, We all paid for the Hire & Petrol only. When i retired no one wanted to do the job. only 3 people from my area are going, they are going Thursday coming back on a Monday, & all are making their own way there. (it some's like you look after Number one now days)
