Im sure under a certain act of parliament the government is under a duty to try and re-establish any species that was native to this country but was eradicated due to man, such as wolves, beavers etc, this would mean that if eagle owls WERE native, the government has to determine if it is feasible to reintroduce them. Any ideas???

Adam I agree mate, it is always a case of buyer beware. I became involved in one of the earlier threads because I saw the same person advertising the same birds on two different websites, with two different stories as to why they were selling. Alarm bells immediately rang, and as someone who was deceived when buying birds as a novice, I wouldnt want the same to happen to someone else. Unsurprisingly, as soon as I had posted on here about the birds, the advert on the other website mysteriously disappeared, perhaps confirming my suspicions??? Lee

Les, I am all in favour of preventing the stray catchers from making money from our birds, BUT you cannot report a stray bird as stolen if it is not stolen, that is perverting the course of justice, and wasting police time - both are criminal offences. The police will be aware that you have not previously reported your loft being broken into until you are suddenly asked for money for a bird's return. If he retains your property dishonestly intending to keep or dispose without your consent, then that may be regarded as theft, and yes, you can involve the police.

Im not trying to be funny mate but you put the same advert on another website WITH a photograph. On here you seem to suggest they are imports from germany, on the other site, i read it as you have bred too many, which would make them British from German stock. the 4 i let out were GB 08 V 29106, 07, 09,10 - not sure which ones are accounted for yet - I couldnt stomach looking at the ring number on the one the dog got!!!

well just to update everyone, good news and bad news...ne bird back the following morning and straight in when called. A second one came back today but as it couldnt get into the loft it must have kept trying and the f*cking dog got to it first, yard looks like a slaughter house :'( :'( :'(

if he doesnt have the money to race would he not perhaps be better off with some white garden fantails???

i know guys, im not holding out much hope, but thought id better post here just in case one of the good guys gets them in! Let them out last night, clear blue sky no clouds, all 3 climbed higher and higher until they were only specks in the sky, could still see them miles away. It was the 1st time they had flown together instead of singly so assume they just egged each other on and on... here's hoping

i dont race myself fellas but the young birds are clearly thirsty, i live next the river ribble in preston, lancs and there have been young birds dropping like hell trying to land on the river. The rocks along the bank are lined with YB's

David mate ive kept pigeons now for 15 years, fancy breeds and recently white racers. I only just plucked up the courage to let out my new 4 young birds, and didnt dare leave their side until they were back in! when they were i was ecstatic. that feeling never goes, but neither does the fear of them going up and away!!!! Lee

dont know mate, presumably it isnt a pure bred boxer, but after 6 gens of breeding to pure boxer, the pups were so genetically similar that they could be registered as such.

what lofty says has me thinking about how many generations it would take for the WEFTs to be as pure as possible again after the initial cross??? i read an article years ago on dog breeding, where a boxer breeder in anticipation of a ban on docking dogs tails tried to cross his boxers to a corgi - because apparently corgis have a geneticly bobbed tail. after the initial litter he selected only those dogs with a bob tail and crossed them back to boxers. It only took 6 generations i think before he could register the crossed pups as pure boxers. Cant remember if the bob tail experiment was succesful, but thought it amazing that it only took 6 generations for the breed to become pure again. Any thouhts on pigeons? Lee

as long as the bird has food and water it will be OK for a day or two, this should give him chance to answer you. After that if still no luck, leave another message on here, there may be someone local to you that can help. Do you keep birds yourself? Lee
