Robert Anderson from Kirky.
Ally, just posted the programme on a new thread rather than hijack this one, but pick ups could be a major problem for you as well.
Don't worry Andy, just curious
-
More the merrier Derek. I think Rab is coming this year again. He said he had a hut-full for the North.
mibees aye and mibees naw, but it would still be murder getting them into where you are.
Just out of interest Andy whats your race program?
-
Fill the gaps with some North races. You must have enough for a North Club and we'll speak about conveying, or just come as trainers.
Crikey, then I would be the shortest flyer,
:)

SO utterly tragic, rest in piece.

Which pair is it Chris? I would take the cock away, that way if the hen laid at least she would do do in her bowl and you could just stick the cock back. But having said that Walter has a lot more experience than me.

Took 31 hens to 8 mile today. Put them up into a beautiful blue sky. They went way up high and circled for a few minutes. Must have been about 1/4 mile away when I saw them break up and there was percy diving after one. it started diving but there was an explosion of pigeon bloom when percy hit her, so bright in the sun despite the distance they were from me. Got home and 16 were already back in loft, 8 on loft and few more have worked back in. Missing 3 from the 31.
Need to find new tossing point I think. Not easy, hope other 2 work back in. Not the best start to training.

very interesting brian, lots of food for thought.

If the doos haven't paired up ditch them both anyway Chris.
-
It doesn't matter what system you use Ally, its winding yearlings up early on that can be foolish. Race widowhood but don't show the hens until they return, definately from the first few races anyway, omo.
Cheers Derek. Makes sense. To be honest I'm more interested in just getting them home from the first few races anyway as they probably wont be trained past inverary which is 25 mile or so. After a few then can look at getting them up a bit quicker.

How do you lads fly your yearlings?
-
Do you think its possible to over excite a yearling on widowhood?
-
I should have kept him

I was flying into Glasgow from Barra last Tuesday, just a wee plane that flies a lot lower than the big ones. When we were over the quarry at Dumbuck I was looking down and saw percy flying past. malky Brown had told me theres a nest there and sure enough there it was. Looked up from the garden at home today and one went over too. Getting to the time of year now the doos will be getting out and not looking forward to it. Last year was a nightmare round the loft early on.

Usually get mine out at least once a week but this year with the rain and gales nor been happening. Maybe that's the problem
Mine pretty much through it. Had cocks out today. Just getting them back in loft only for sparrow hawk to grab one. All fine though :-D

Problem for me is if I miss the first 2 Dunbars, 116 miles, its 160 or so to Otterburn for 3rd race. Trying to decide the lesser of two evils. Will keep an eye on temperatures this week and see if they creep above whats been forecasted. No doubt I will send some. Any thoughts and advice appreciated.
