I can't see what all the confusion is all about. The "chocolate" recessive red is clearly quite different from the yellow. The chequered yellows are ash yellow chequer and the the picture of the group of yellows in the pen are recessive yellow, that simple. Look at the link I posted earlier, it explains all.
-
They are definitely yellows. Yellow is dilute of red. "Chocolate" is recessive red. Mealy is ash red bar.
-
Take a look at this link http://www.angelfire.com/ga3/pigeongenetics/ It has all the colours under the sun. You need to look in the box for dilution/pale, click on it and the page will show four English Modenas. The third Schietti (self coloured) Modena is a yellow.

They visit my garden, and had young this year too.
-
Well, if they are finches, they are green finches, and they are lovely.
-
What colour are the finches Bruno? Yellow and red?
-
I have visit my garden, some also nest: robins, goldfinches, greenfinches, longtailed tits, blue tits, great tits, dunnocks, thrush, blackbird, collard dove, house sparrow, green woodpecker, wren, wood pigeon. Had chiffchaff last year, but haven't seen it this year, although have heard it. It costs me more to feed the wild birds than it does my pigeons!!!!!! : :

The sparrowhawk population has increased down here over the past ten years, I see them everyday, but they never bother my pigeons. Food must be plentiful for them, I often find circles of feathers in the garden left from an attack on a small bird. As much as I love the garden birds, I'm thankful it's them and not my pigeons. I wonder if the sparrowhawk starts hassling them in the winter months?

Of which I completely agree with
-
Personally, I would take one of the birds to a good avian vet and let he/she help

I used to have sand on the floor, and used a bakers sieve to sift it through. It did get quite dusty.

I had a problem with a cat, he actually got onto the loft by climbing onto the fence then jumping onto the 3ft high chicken wire I've got around the sides and back of the loft , climbed over it and caught one of my rollers (that's determination). I bought some Prikastrips and run them along the fence. To date I have had no more problems, and that was two months ago.

Do you intend to have it as a multi-breed fancy club? Have you considered advertising what you want to do in the Feathered World? It will cost you nothing, just the price of a stamp. It's worth a try. When we founded the show racer club, there were just the four uf us. Now there are around a dozen members, and that is in a space of four years. Show reports are always sent into Feathered World, with photos. We have had some of our show reports in Homing World too, and have gained a few members that way. Good luck to you, I hope you manage to get things up and running.

Any fancy club can affiliate with the NPA, it just means you will be running the show to their ruling. To be able to award NPA certificates, the club has to seek championship show status from the NPA. The club sec has to write to the sec of the NPA and the request will be put forward to the NPA Management Committee at their next meeting, the date of the show will also be considered so that it doesn't clash with another champ show locally. You can have NPA listed judges at minor shows, I'm on the NPA judges list for two fancy breeds and I will judge at Champ shows, club shows or open shows, it's entirely up to the judge. At a champ show, if there is a class which does not have a judge from the judges list, he/she is able to judge the birds, but unable to award NPA certs. I have been sec for fancy clubs for twelve years and have organised championship shows catering for 800 birds. The two clubs I am sec of at the moment are not affiliated to the NPA. The flying breeds club is affiliated to the National Federation Of Tipplers and Tumblers and the show racer club is affiliated to nobody. We issue our own certificates and create our own champions within the club. To join either club it will cost £10 for the first year then £5.00 per year after that. Is your club a new club, or is it already in exsistence? What date is the show being held on?

Why don't you just make them yourself? Men! ;D

I'm with the "don't treat it" gang on this one. If I haven't got a cough then I'm not going to take cough mixture, surely that applies to the lotions and potion available to pigeons. I've never treated my birds for something they haven't got, and they are fit and healthy. A subject where lots will agree and lots will disagree. You manage your birds how it suits you and not just to follow suit

Well done Chrissy. Hope to see a show report about the show in Feathered World. Do you subscribe to it? For those who are interested www.winckley.co.uk

I have a friend who is big into colour genetics, the science stuff, gives me a head ache really, but I give it a go and leave the science to him! I've now introduced indigo in chequer and bar into my rollers and are show quality. I'm sure I will enjoy the forum thanks ;D

Had show racers until 3 months ago when I parted with my entire stock, well I still have one pair of b/ch's and one rec opl cock, which I shall cross with one of my rollers to get the rec opal colour in rollers. kept show racers for about five years. Have got Show Rollers which I've kept for the past 30 years, also got a few English Short Faced Tumblers which I've kept for around 20 years. I don't show those anymore, but maybe................

I didn't know this site exsisted, only came across it by chance. Same old Jackanory really, not enough fancy pigeon stuff. Told a few other fancy pigeon friends about site, myybe they will take a look. If I can promote the clubs that I participate in on here and maybe gain some new members in doing so, then that's a bonus

Must be cos I'm in Cost del Kent, that keeps my birds moulting, not alone on that one other fanciers down here are in the same boat. Do one summer show in June then thirteen during the winter months, so certainly get about a bit.
-
;D ;D ;DI've got a Salmon called Ella ;D ;D ;D

Nope ??) January bred youngsters have just dropped their last flight, but they are in a severe head moult at the moment. I have later bred youngsters dropping two or three flights at a time, so by the time the show season starts in October , they will probably match the older youngsters, and I have late bred youngsers just weaned.

Thought I'd advertise two fancy pigeon clubs in Kent: The Southern Counties Show Racer Society catering for show racers and the Southern Counties Flying Breeds Society catering for West Of England Flying Tumblers, Show Rollers and Exhibition Flying Tipplers. Classes also for Comp Birmingham Rollers and Tipplers. Shows held in Gravesend, Kent from October to Janaury. Members from Kent, Essex, Hampshire and Lowestoft.
