  9. Oh please, let's not start that again? ;D ;D They are definitely yellow, dilute ash red chequer. The first photo is badge marked (white on head) would you racing guys call it pied? Not too clear on the second photo, but it looks like it is badge marked.

  13. My hotel was lovely and warm . It was the freezing cold gale force winds, but this year I have my added furry layer to keep me warm. Thank god for female hormones! ;D

    I didn't say the two birds! The dilute indgo chequer (second pic) has quite often been mistaken for a yellow, but she isn't.

    The science of colour genetics is a mind boggling subject. I think to avoid even more confusion, just simply remember that dilue red is yellow, so dilute ash red chequer is ash yellow chequer, dilute recessive red (chocolate) is recessive yellow. dilute ash red bar (mealy) is cream. How it actually gets there is up to you whether you wish to learn about it. I've attached a photo of one of my young indigo chequer hen and a dilute indigo chequer hen. She looks yellow, but she isn't.
