  1. What puts me off about Denmark is that they seem to think that if you have not spent years in collage you´re no good, i even think it is a two year course just to become a garbage man over there. Now i have never been much for collage but i am a hard working man and i do fine, plus if everyone went to collage the society would not work.
  2. So, moving to the U.K. is obviusly not a good idea, sounds like you guys are unhappy about many things in your country, maybe you should all move to Iceland. Here we get to pay about 1 pound per liter of car fuel and 80% of that is tax.And like i said before it is like that about many things and at the end of the month most of my money has gone to some sort of taxing.
  3. In the summer we have sunshine(light) 24/7 but in december until february it´s about 3-5 hours of daylight but now the sun comes up between 9 and 10 in the morning and sets at about 18:00 and the tempreture is about 0° celsius and outside everything has become white for the first time this winter
  4. yeah yeah very funny, how come it always has to go into something else then the post is about, ok so it´s beer not bear , you all know what we are talking about.
  5. In a pub a bear is about 500-600 krona which makes about 4.50 pounds
  6. Well if you guys were here in Iceland i think you´d be happy about the taxes in the U.K. as i think we are the most taxed people in the world, at the end of the month 70%-80% of my paycheck has gone to all kinds of taxes. And about the polish, here in Iceland we are about 300.000 people of which 40.000 are polish
  7. Yes i realise that there is good competition in all countries but between England and Denmark i prefer England.
  8. I am open to anything.I have worked my way up at the company i work with today and i am sure i could do it again.
  9. Well me and my wife have been talking about it for some time now, that is to move to a foreign country, you know experience something new and all that.Mainly we have talked about moving to the U.K. or Denmark because we speak both languages. Of course i would like to race pigeons in the country i move to so that makes the U.K. a favorite for me. But there are more factors that contribute to this kind of decision like would i get a good job and a decent house, now we have a one month old son so of course we want the best things for him. So i was hoping you guys and girls could educate me and make the decision easier. I already know everything is less expensive over there then here in Iceland. Is there a chance for a foreigner to get a decent job or a job at all? Are there any websites that would be a good read for me? Any info would be appriciated. Thanks in advance

    yb swap 2008

Spoke to the export manager at Icelandair and she told me that to find out the shipping cost from Iceland i would need the approx. weight of the container and the birds. So if anyone does know the approx. weight of a 2 bird aluminum basket and maybe also a 4 bird basket i could give you the cost. Icelandair fly to London and Manchester. I think this kind of baskets would be needed http://www.everythingforpets.com/aluminium_pigeon_basket.pet/use.id.5.item_id.1292.dept.149/ Also if anyone can tell me if the birds would need some health papers and vaccination i can see what that would cost

    yb swap 2008

Yes i know it would cost but if i and maybe one or two fanciers in England would pay for it maybe it would be possible.

I would maybe be interested in sending a bird or two to someone who would be intersted in trying my birds out.I would not require a bird instead as import is very difficult for me here in Iceland. The only thing i would want is that me and the person who would get the bird(s) would split the shipping cost 50/50.It really would be good for me to see what my birds can do against harder competition and therefor i would send birds off my best breeding pairs. So if anyone might be interested feel free to contact me to see if this would be possible and i could also send pedigrees from my best pairs. And if someone could explain the import rules in to England i would appriciate it.
  13. Ahh, i know what you mean but i do not use anything for fleas or lice as it is not a problem for my birds.
  14. What is petaganate pernosom???? i´ve never even heard that but if you can explain what it is i might know it by another name or something like that.

Ed, i know what you are talking about and i know that it works, tossing single birds but if you would see the family of birds i have in action you would see what i am talking about. It is a little hard for me to explain but my family have amazing homing abilities (sense of direction, orientation) and on top of that they seem to have alot of self confidence. As an example i once tossed 30 young birds (1st toss) and 10 of them were from this family and the rest reletively unrelated and as the group started to circle around the tossing location 8 birds cut them selfs from the group and head straight for home, those 8 birds were from my family and were home about 10 mins ahead of the rest.Another example, first young bird race in 2006 from about 100km. first 6 birds from this family and the hen that won it was 11 mins ahead and in the second young bird race she was again first from 160km. 24 mins ahead.

Wow, i applaude you Ed, great read, it is very rare to find someone who believes in the same things as i do regarding the birds but you sure do.It seems to me that in the past few years more and more people are looking for a quick fix to get successful. There is only one thing i disagree with and that is that you cannot evaluate a bird's intelligence in the short, fast races, i only fly short distance and i can see if a bird is intelligent or not.

I think that if you have quality birds, your dads knowledge can´t be outdated if he used to win with this knowledge.Look at all the old champions, the knowledge they had is still very much in practice and people are doing good with it.

    Wings

The step between the secondary and primary feathers is what i try to breed into my birds as in my experience it contributes to them flying faster, but of course other factors will have to be there to and the step alone will not make them do the job
  20. Here is the website but no info yet about the breeding station but coming soon. http://www.natural-granen.com/#undefined/Breeding_Station click on "about us"
  21. I would have to agree with Mark, can anyone even point out a reason why we should speed up the moult.I have always tried to do things as much natural as possible and i do not even know most of the diseases i have read about on the web and i truly believe it has got something to do with my natural ways of doing things.
  22. In my opinion Tammy seems to know the most important thing about the eyesign theory, that it is in fact nonsense!!!!! Why do you think it is that the great champions of Belgium and The Netherlands laugh at all the people that waste money on books and videos about eyesign, they don´t even have a word for it in their languages.
  23. Can anyone tell me where i might get the Around Antwerp videos?I have been searching the net but not found anything yet so if someone knows i would appriciate it.
  24. Yes i agree with you little sam, very nice looking products, i have already sent an e-mail asking if they would consider shipping to Iceland.
