  1. Yes Vic, It hasnt got any worse but it hasnt got much better either - what have I done wrong? D.D.
  2. The best site I have found is www.xcweather.co.uk. It is a fantastic site that is used by pilots. It has an option to view the continent and has been updated this year with additional info for a seven day forecast. I would reccomend this site to everyone. D.D.
  3. No one even mentioned the great Ron Williamson Buschaerts from Ireland. Don't forget the famous "Breathtaker and the infamous "Heartbreaker". Fabulous pigeons from a man who is always at the top of the NIPA nationals and thats hard racing into Ireland from the continent competing against 5 - 7000 birds. His name should be leading the "All Star" list. D.D.
  4. Thanks for your post Kev, It is isolated and I am being very careful with washing my hands etc. It is still very weak and still falling over but I think that I have learnt that the difference between a sick pigeon and an exhausted pigeon is the brightness of the eye. (I hope I don't regret it). D.D.
  5. Checked it this morning - is still ok and still quite bright. Its crop is now hard - probably from what I fed it last night. Thank you Paul and RedCheq. I just wanted to know that it wasnt a disease. I'm sure that I can bring the bird round if the symptoms are just of exhaution. It was the falling over bit that worried me. It is a gay pied Ring No 06. E. 74023. - phone number 01666 510253. I'll make sure that I can bring him around before contacting the owner - unless anyone recognises the phone number. Thanx all D.D.
  6. Its an 06 bird with an E prefix and I think the number begins 73,,,,, I will check in the morning and also post the telephone number that is on the wing. someone may recognise it. The bird is a gay pied if it helps to identify it. D.D.
  7. Havent reported it yet Mac, was going to see if I could bring it round before contacting the owner. It is wing stamped and has a race rubber, so should have been vaccinated - so do you think it could be para? I'd like to be able to tell the finder that we done our best for it but if this is a sign of paramyxo then I will put it down and inform the owner - just like some confirmation of the signs if anyone has experienced it? D.D.
  8. I've just been to collect a stray from a non fancier - The bird is totally emaciated with a keel like a razor. His eyes are bright and he is quite alert but he keeps falling over when I've moved him and I am worried that this might be a sign of paramyxo? I am hand feeding it with small seed and I feel that because he is fairly alert I might stand a chance of bringing him back from the brink and then repatriating him. He is isolated from my own birds but is nevertheless in close proximity and i am worried for my youngsters which havent been injected yet. Anyone know why it should be falling over? D.D.
  9. Northampton, mix of sunshine and showers - just took some yearlings to Buckingham -15mile- home in less than 20minutes D.D.
  10. What is the last day of the week that members would train thier birds for a race on the Saturday. If you train on Friday does this take the strength out of the birds or does it sharpen them up for the race on the Saturday? D.D.
  11. Thank you Tubbles - will let you know how I get on. D.D.
  12. Yep - sure as eggs are eggs, the site is still the same and i cant get on it using that link tubbles. Last year someone told me to use the control key as well as something else but cant remember what - does anyone know?
  13. Can anyone tell me how to get on their website - I remember having trouble last year. D.D.
  14. Have any members received their handbook and race sheets yet? D.D.
  15. Dont know if it is just mine but the birds must,ve found it tricky today only doing 952ypm over 106 miles from the south coast. Think there is still quite a bit of East in the wind. Hows anyone else doing? D.D.
  16. Midlands, South Northants. Grey and overcast - no sign of any sun - negligable wind and still a little fresh. Good visiblity. D.D.
  17. Thanks Wiley - do you have any idea how it will affect them?
  18. Just wondered if anyone has left baby cock birds to grow in with the widowhood cocks. Do you think it would affect the widowers in any way or wouldn't it do the youngsters any good. I ask cos I am racing my widowers to big youngsters this week before going on to w.hood proper. I have a couple of real "cocky" little babies that are already fighting me out of the box and it seems a shame to take this admirable quality away from them. I know that the cock bird will eventually kick them out but I do have spare boxes which they could take to. Does anyone think that the youngsters will race well if reared in this way? D.D.
  19. Thankyou all, I am very greatful for your help D.D.
  20. Thanx Darren. Unfortunately, I have already bought this biozine to Traet the birds prior to racing so I 'm reluctant to use anything else - just wanted to know if is safe for the squabs - it contains piperazine dihydrochloride if anyone can help? D.D.
  21. Hi Mosslands I am intrigued by your soda crystal tip - never heard of this one - I use soda crystals as a cleaning agent and to neutralise certain acids so I'm guessing that it would make sense in the right dosage i.e tic been size. Are you suggesting this for the canker element or the worms element. Does it make the birds sick?
  22. Does anyone know if it is safe to treat adult birds with Biozine wormer when they are feeding babies? - It doesn't say anything about it on the packet. D.D.
  23. Was the doctor that you saw "in" or "out". If he was "out", you'd have to let him "in" and if he was "in" he must have got "out". Is it you or your doctor thats doing the "OKEY - COKEY"............I dread to think whats being "shaken all about" :P
  24. Thank you Casbri. D.D.
