  1. LOL TAMMY ;D ;D ;D
  2. What do you mean the 11 flighted situation is just a theory Wiley? Were mot saying every big winner has eleven flights, but a good percenteage of birds that have this characteristic have one prizes. This is fact not fiction. I'm not saying that we should all start breeding birds to have eleven flights. Thats just stupid. If you check your own team of birds you might find that one or 2 that have had this have done well in the races.Let me know what you think mate.
  3. I dont know if you will remember Jimmy but SU94ML4737 blue/cheq cock. He was bred down from the Midlands Championship Club winner. I got him from you when I was starting up the birds also had eleven flights in one wing. He was a very good racer. Maybe just coincidence. Who knows?
  4. Canker starts off in the upper digestive tract. It is a motile parasite so quickly spreads to the throat and can cause respiratory problems. Before this though you WILL notice loose droppings. Hence the reasoning behind my post.
  5. As perches they will be just fine. Would be no good as nest boxes however as I could see the cocks having some trouble when they are treading the hens. As SAMMY said you could put grilles in them to solve this problem.
  6. Before you go rushing off to buy any treatments. Just pop down to the chemist first and buy yourself a tub of charcoal tablets. Give the affected bird one half of one tablet. Leave the bird for 24hrs and then check the stool. If the bird is still not right then I would treat with antibiotics.
  7. Never mind the throat. I think what comes out the other end can tell you a lot more about your birds health
  8. Failure to provide shell grit can and will result in soft shelled eggs, rough shelled eggs, egg bound hens and rickets in the nest babies. Shell grit is needed as a source of calcium aswell as aiding the digestive system.
  9. 1g per litre should be given for no more than 3 days Jimmy. It also would depend on what time of the season you would be treating the birds. i.e water consumption of the birds.
  10. Tylan should be used at the rate of 1g per litre of water. You should mix it with warm water first before adding it to the drinker. It is marketed by a company called Elanco, and is only available through your vet. I found it to be the most effective product against respiratory infections.
  11. A sprint pigeon never van tyres
  12. Usually round about 21-24 days old as long as they are feathered under the wing. Put plenty of shavings on the floor of their section. Feed only maples for 1st week. Good mutivitamin in the drinker. Leave the top off. Birds will bath in it but as long as they know where it is.
  13. No reason why they wont turn out to be good yearlings. As long as they have a thorough schooling as yb's. Plenty of training. I would suggest up to 100mls. A couple of overnights in the basket as well. Remember and leave the drinkers on the baskets.
  14. Best grit you can get is from shells down the beach. Smash them up and there you go. All free and as much as you want. Oh yes , Sammy what do you think is in the gizzard? GRIT OF COURSE.
  15. Hi everyone, I started keeping pigeons in 1993 after a visit to jimmy white's loft.I flew them in the Armadale and District Homing Society which is part of the West Lothian Fed in Scotland.I flew the old birds on widowhood and the young birds on the darkness. In 1997 I was voted Scotlands Own Young Fancier Of The Year.I moved to Northern Ireland in 2003 to be with a different type of bird and I am looking to get started again in the sport.
