  1. Hopefully all sorted now Tammy
  2. I'm looking to get in touch with Jimmy, please PM me with any contact info. Ta.
  3. I would suggest that you learn to walk before you run. I don't mean that to sound patronising but I feel you would be far better racing your youngsters naturally for a couple of years just to get to know your birds and their habbits first. Once youv'e done that, then if you still want to have a go at the darkness system then I would suggest that you read as much as you can on the subject, visit as many top flyers using this system as you can. Then work out your own plan of attack and stick to it, because what works for one man dosen't always work for everyone. All the best with whatever you choose to do.
  4. Hi, Just a quick note to say that if you give up they have won. NEVER GIVE UP. I know from when I first started in the sport, eveyone wanted to be my friend until I started beating them every week. It's a sad fact that's the way it is in some clubs. You are in the best club of all. THE WINNERS CLUB. Keep at it, don't let them get you down. Let the birds do your talking.
  5. What do you want to use it for?
  6. Now don't take this the wrong way. When I experienced the very same problem, a well known fancier said to me to spit in the affected eye of the pigeon. To my complete surprise this seemed to do the trick. Try it and see.
  7. I know yourself and I were mad keen on the darkness system Jimmy, but me thinks this is a step to far. ;D ;D ;D
  8. Good luck to all racing today.
  9. I would use Ronseal. Does exactly what it says on the tin. ;D ;D ;D
  10. My very first winner was a VdB. Bred for me by Keith Holloway of warrington. She was a gay pied hen. This pigeon went on to breed 3rd open Scottish Central Combine. Good steady birds. You won't go far wrong.
  11. So very sad to hear the news of Smokie. I too like Jimmy White, remember all his songs and jokes. Would have a crack about everything. He will be sadly missed by one and all. Condolences to the Tigress and Family.
  12. I had similar thing happen to me. Only the bird was from a loft 20mls away. My mate from our club worked just 2mls from this guy. Let it go. Bird returned to me. Did this twice. Then transfered the bird only for it to drop into the other guys loft first time I raced it. :-/
  13. I used to mix some aqueous iodine with my garlic mixture I added to the drinker twice a week.
  14. Good luck David, enjoy yourself. Try not to get too worked up. All the best.
  15. Garlic. Good for the blood and the respiratory system due to the active ingredient Allicin.
  16. What strain were they? Barkers. ;D
  17. Why don't you just pm each other then? :-/ :-/ :-/
  18. Great reading Craig. Keep 'em coming.
  19. I heard you tried Winalot once Jimmy? ;D ;D ;D
  20. I would suggest basket training your birds. i.e feed and water them in the baskets for a couple of days. Just so they all get to know where the water can be found. You should make a note of these latecomers Tom and perhaps train them separate if possible. Just to get them back up to speed so to speak. The thing is, if they have done it once they will do it again. Might be hard to change them, but worth a try.
  21. I understand the reason for doing it Tom, but it does seem like an awful long time on the truck. Do you leave drinkers on the baskets overnight?
  22. How come they were on the truck for as long? 13hrs for a 45ml toss. Seems a bit much to me.
  23. I tried it with a dash of vodka. They might not have been the best birds but they were the happiest. ;D ;D ;D
  24. I remember a tale of the late great jack adams. it was said that he alway's used to boil the kettle twice when making tea.
