Now it has got around to my personal Computer is causing the Problem when i keep saying i have not sent fanciers posting on this Forum any Emails at all. Except to answer Vic. why should i. I have corresponded on the forum very little and i know no one personally Now is the time for the talikng to stop because i have done nothing wrong and i will not be accused of things which i personally am not to blame for One thing for sure If it was possible to find out the culprits causing these problems I would personally make sure he or they could not use there hands to operate a keyboard again Steve, expat1 Would the Webmaster be able to give me any advice of how to get rid of my old Forum He is well up on computers one thing of which i am not,. Hi Vic I got your last mail but the one i sent you has not returnred to me this time. and it would have by now if something was wrong The thing is you do not have to send me emails and please do not in the furure if you feel as strongly as you I have done a full system check on my computer last night it also did one automaticly three days ago. i had no problems at all. What you must be saying is that my Virus system is not working correctly and it is Plus i will tell you for the last time. I have sent none of you any emails at all now or any other time. All the Mails i have sent out to My Friends in Belgium Holland, USA, England. Trinadad. and France have recieved all the mails i have sent out without any problems, and the last two i sent out was one to you and one to a friend in France, The Friend in France has replied. so that leaves only yours and i have now sent you two mails of which you have not recieved. If there is a problem on my Old Website and i repeat my old Website, i am doing all i can to contact the person who built it How many of you Lads would ask him to wipe the website off for good, Not many i bet but that is what i want to do to stop this rubbish being circulated But since i replied on this forum all the Lads understand that i am doing all i can to stop this problem except yourself, You say you are still not Happy with the situation. So; what do you want to do about it. Please do not send a private mail answer on this forum i am doing all i can, but its not enough for you so come up with a sugesstion, Heres one, You Blame my old Website which may prove correct, but now it seems my computer is at fault for me sending out mail to you Lads when none has been sent. What would you have me do Put a hammer through the computer which is only 4 months old. Lets here what you suggest Steve

Hi I have not sent out any emails to any of you fellows, I have not browsed this forum or any other for some time. If my Computer was infected then people i have emailed would let me know plus it would also i think do something to my computer to let me know something is wrong. I do know on my old site www.patrickbros.com the guest page is full of porn adverts, as i said i cannot change this site myself the person who made it is as far as i know the only one to change it and at the present time i am unable to get hold of him My new website does not have a guestbook and is perfectly okay I will do all i can to wipe off the old site once and for all but i cannot make someone answer me if they do not want to. I will write a letter to him tomorrow there is little more i can do. As for AVG i had it free for 3 months and i did not like it. My Norton system is the top of the range and i have had it for only 3 months Steve expat1

Hi I do not often go onto our old website. This is www.patrickbros.com But i had a Mail from Vic yesterday to tell me what was going on i replied but the mail came back. Vic sent me one today and i have replied to him again i do not know if he got it I have tried to get the Fellow who built this website for me to take the site off altogether but he does not respond to my emails or phone calls i have phoned him today about 10 times without luck I have now sent a mail to a friend in Holland asking him if he can delete the site for me I will let you know if i get any luck Since we moved over here to Belgium we have a new website. www.patrickbros.be it is based on the old format but i can delete stuff and add to it, this was done for me by a friend in Holland. I am truly sorry but i have done my best and will continue to stop it in the end. I do not fully understand why people should recive emails from me as i have not sent any out from this website. As regards my computer and sending mail from it it is fully protected by Norton and is the best up todate version i can buy Regards expat1 Steve

Hi Stuart You should not talk about Cheese so Lightly. Over here i can Only 'Dream' of getting a good bit of Stilton or Strong Chedder. But the dream is yet to come true when i look in the Fridge the next morning expat1

Hi There is a similar thing wrote i believe but i have never read it, but we practised this in the mid 60,s and 70.s and to an extent in the 90,s with our presnt family It is just to show the fancier a way or the difference in Line inbreeding If you have one stud Sire then all will relate back to him. You can of course try it on the Line of the female but few are good at it the most famous person in England to culivate a female Line bred Family was the great Vic Robinson from Southhampton. when one has kept and raced pigeons for well over 50 years we should know a little expat1

HI Lets say a newstarter want to found a family from Scratch. So what he can do is to Purchase a Top Performance CockWith Classic Performances Say he wants to race Short to Middle Distance. Then Purchase or Loan three outstanding Producer hens from Fanciers who have them, or the Hard Way Buy them but at a cost If you borrow them you can split the Young Birds with the owners of the hens Now you have this Cock above Call him A. all the Producer hens which are unrelated to each other and the cock would most likely be unrelated to any of the hens the Hens would be B-C-D pair the cock in turn to each hen. Race the Young Birds to test them The Best Daughters the following year would be Mated to the Sire. In the mean time all others are raced quite hard. You can pair Half Brother -Sister together and test those Young Birds The Young Birds bred from the Father + Daughter are also tested hard. Now what you are creating is a Line Bred Family Based on one Cock as the Stud Sire. all you can hope is that you have chosen wisely. This is Line Breeding on the Paternal Line. You can go on for 20 plus years and all you do is bring in Unrelated hen But top Producer Hens, I.E have bred top Classic winning pigeons. At the end of 20 years or so all Progeny will be linked to the one Orginal Cock and this is Line Breeding on the Paternal Side ( Male} expat1

Hi The Fanciers at the Holmsdale were all very friendly. I did not speak to everyone but i think many book each year there and Know each other. However it was a very enjoyable time in good company and first Class service from Mine Hosts Penny and Philip I missed the Basics stand which isa pity as wanted to say hello to the Admin but things were pretty hectic for me from leaving home and during the show expat1

Hi I just got back home at 7.0clock tonight (Monday evening) after staying at the Holmsdale In Pleasant Rd, NorthShore Blackpool . I have been to most the top hotels in Blackpool but none come up to the standard of this 24 room hotel It was fantastic Spotless clean Television in every room all en Suite. Trouser Press, Hair drier, for the Ladies Tea and Coffee making in all rooms, Central Heating, abundance of hot water in a Shower that worked. The food was brilliant Dinner was Roast Beef and all the trimmings Soup or another starter before that then sweet course and after that Cheese and Bicuits and Coffee with a Mint, different other nioghts with a choice of menu The Decoration of the rooms was immaculate and The bed was comfotable. It was the best i have stayed in Blackpool and the Cost for three nights Bed breakfast and Dinner was less than £100 the lot, Breakfast was full english, Cereal Tea or Coffee, Toast and Bread and Butter and Fruit Juice and perfectly cooked, It had a nice little bar to get a drink, 10 of the Fanciers there have already booked for next year and myself makes eleven. No children under 12 years of Age are permitted The Hosts were great they could not do enough for the Fanciers staying there every one was on first names including the Hosts i had to leave early this morning without breakfast as i was the only one left in the Hotel Last night they bought up a Continetal type breakfast on a Tray for me so i would not go away hungery. You cannot get better than that expat1

Hi Yes, times was hard during the war and for a long time after it. One product which has always stayed with me from those days was the dried Egg powder that is when you could get it or anything else. Our Mum could make a great Stew out of some bacon bones and a few scrapes. I have tried to equal it but never done it. Still we got through it and i for one am better for it i think. It taught us to stand on our own two feet at a young age. Finally When i retired from work the most take home pay i ever had a week for 48 hours was £98.0 but we bought a house and paid a morgage foer 20 years with the interest rate stating at 12.25% rising to 15.15% tough days no money for pubs, Never went into a pub until i was 26 years old and i did not like the taste, Other hobbies and the pigeons took up all my time but i did what i wanted and lived how i wanted so i am lucky. Now i love a Pint or three but not that often to get tired of it plus a dram of Brandy on the odd occasion. I hope the RPRA see common sense and bring in Compatablitiy with the ETS otherwise it will cause unneccessary problems for the English style of Racing But we shall see. Of course Many have used it for Training purposes i do it every time. If there is only one at least you can see a pattern in the timing of certain pigeons early on which may benifit the fancier in the races in regards to a pigeon to pool. Having used a normal timer for 50 years it is great and more relaxing not to have to catch the pigeons right away plus i am not so mobile as i once was In belgium the fanciers still have to time in on an ordinary clock like a T3 within 5 minutes of clocking in when competing in National and International Races but the tension is gone and the pigeons and owner are not so hyped up as they were 5 minutes earlier well i suppose it is expat1
-
Hi Reading your posts on preventive We have a tiled roof on our loft So we tucked some thin plyable weld mesh with quarter inch holes under the first row of Tiles then bent it over the outside lip of the Gutter 1nch Easy to bend back and clean the gutter inside but stops the pigeons picking in the gutter itself and you know young birds will if they can expat1

A good bit of advertising is that. However if you feel so strongly about the Dutch systyem why not get your dutch friend to get on to the powers to be or perhaps yourself. Always the best way i find if i have a point to make i go to the source. But as i do not live and Race in Holland they would probably tell me to get ---- and as i know basically what is what and i pass any info on to any interested that is it. We can say the same in all countries. One thing is sure You have bought in enough pigeons from Holland so in one respect you must be happy I too have most of my Stock Dutch bred' but as always and anywhere. 'Buyer Beware' expat1
-
Hi Roland You are Not alone in that respect. I too come from a family of five brothers and five sisters, So i know excatly how hard my mother had things During the War my Father was in the RAF my mother was put on a train from Canning Town in London this train was told to drop her off at Newbury in Berkshire, at that time she had three childern walking behind her and carrying Me. Date July 1940 i was born the month before Now this great Lady was 4.11'' in height can you imagine how she felt at that time four young children left in a strange town No where to go to just dropped off on her own her husband in the forces and of no help, and that is the truth. She found somewhere to go she left here two young daughters at one place and my brother and me somewhere else with herself with other families Our clothes she made out of RAF and Army Greatcoats given to her, And that was it And i am proud of my old Mum you bet i am for she had an Iron 'Will' never to give in. And i hope i have at least inherited that from her, and i think i have. For me defeat is not a word i take notice of never have' So if my neighbour wants to use an ETS because he thinks he may have the edge on me by using one, well good luck to him But i will not make it easy for him. Meaning Look after yourself and what you have, anyone worrying what others may have or do is not concentrating on what they should be doing themselves so therefore defeat for them is inevitable expat1

Hello Yes the Long distance races are run by the ZLU but there are still 4 sections and each sect or AFD has its own winner and those winners call it a 1st National Now some sections may send 2.000pigeons others 2000 to 7000 it depends on where you live and the distance. But really to be honest who are we as strangers to say they are wrong, So long as it is out in the open for all to see the results which i can guarantee they are as i take the De Fontkrant Paper. Then we cannot judge them Only make up our own minds if purchasing. In Holland the Competition WHZB is a guide to short middle distance pigeon racing over there. In Belgium if you take a Belgium Paper you can then compete in that Papers Championship. and those who do not take the paper cannot. But the winners of those Competitions could not really be as good as the fanciers who do not take these papers. its the same as the pigeon corn championships if you do not use there product you cannot enter. You have so many championships in Belgium the thought of them is enough to make your head spin. The Main thing in Belgium is this. Every race you enter be it Club- Fed -National or International you have to pick out the pigeons in order that you expect them to home from each race in other words the 1st and 2nd and you at times need the 3rd Nominated pigeon if you are to compete for a lot of Championships. i can go on more but this is enough at the moment Just to say that Slugmonkey' is right what he says when any of us buy pigeons we all hope we are getti ng a fair deal Well i do myself and i hope the purchaser does too if we are selling, we certainly do our very best because reputation means everything. expat1

Hi Roland Yes you mention 1000,s of Hardships You are right and i know a little about it being born at the beginning of the last War when on the very first raid on London our House went with my mothers sister and a younger brother inside and a few months later her other two brothers killed in Action. Hard times like 1000;s of others But do you know what, It made us and the People of England all the more Stronger in spite of it. Possibly you yourself may be old enough to have been in it No Times Change ss with another thread i have anwered Pigeons 30 years ago Clocking devices are just that, nothing else. Firstly you hace to get the pigeon home expat1
-
Hello Some of you Lads say things have change a lot from 30 years ago, Yes' some have but only you think so because a few of you were not even born then. In the late 70s and up to 1987 we ourselves used a form of Darkness system with the Old birds then we raced from 50 miles to 450 miles or there abouts, and it worked very well indeed That combined with our own form of Widowhood well soely widowhood but with a tweak. Then we went on to longer distances after that . As regards Losing Young Birds and one Lad mentioned Early Y.Bs He is correct in what he says. Get them flying Strong Sometimes the weather can hold them back depending how it is at that time of the year . Then around 12 to 13 weeks of age train them But before this time comes Basket Train them and let them out of the basket in the Garden a few times before you Train. It is always wise to train the young birds before they become sexually aware of each other, Once they reach this stage losses seem to occur more expat1

Hi My imformation comes direct from a Dutch Fancier friend of mine, So if he does not know then its time he moved, You are correct in the letters afdelings But he prefers to call them Semi Nationals as you say we would call them a fed or Combine But there are still only two Nationals Blois and Munchen. Also you are correct when you say they elaborate on performances to make them sound and look better they do as so they do in Belgium But over in Belgium it is a National as i explained. What you have to do before you go to Blackpool and Buy is study the results and one tip Do not think in the context of how many first prizes won because the Dutch and Belgians do not, it is the Ace Pigeon and Tites and i can tell you it is a terrible hard job for a fancier to win them If any are interested i will try to explain a little of how it is expat1
-
Hello Perhaps i can help you on the subject of National Races over in the Dutch side of the water Holland first. There are four sectors and these can be called Semi Nationals except for two one Day flights at about 400 to 450 miles these races are from Blois and Muchen where all holland competes these are the only true National Races Many of the short - middle distance races in Holland have a big birdage but the Radius would not be very big. In England we would call it a Federation and not a wide area Fed like the Solent Fed or say some others just as a comparision Germany There are no true National Races. German Fanciers can only race in one club and the International Races but for those who compete in the international Races then they call it the German National Belgium From Bourges onwards Every single week there is a National Race which takes in the whole of Belgium anyone can enter no club fees just take your pigeons to a marking station of your choice Then we have the International Races of which certain National Races are combined with them on the Long Distance The Type of Racing in Belgium is as follows they Have Vitesse. Sprint up to about 200kms about 120miles then they have Middle distance from 200 kms to 350kms, 200 odd miles or so then Fond which is Long Distance from 350 to 700kms about 440 miles then they finish off with the races over 440 to 700 miles expat1

Hi Ganster A difficult question to really get a proper answer too. There are many who keep Aarden based pigeons and have other lines within the family used to strenthen the blood, There are many who just purchase the aarden Blood as near to the base they can and just Breed to sell. For ourselves we have kept the line intact for some years I suppose i have owned four G,Children of the Oude Dolle 67 one from the Dolle 2. I have had two children of the Famous Favoriet whos along with the son of Dolle 2 was the base of our family now. But i soon realised the potential of our base stock but also the need to bring in a little fresh blood to bring out those quailies to the best and to that end the Van Der Wegen through the Oude Doffertje 1 son of the Oude Doffertje 58. Last Winter i managed again to get an old Breeding hen of the same lines a daughter of the Doffertje 244 sire of 1st -2nd -3rd -4th -4th -7th -7th -10th etc in Dutch Lng Distance Races to bring in again. I only got single eggs from her she being bred in 1996, but we got four single young birds But we have to consider the Age of the children of the Foundation pigeons and they are all finished, So i hope we have created in a way a line which is full of the Aarden and i suppose the van der wegen line which is still winning and i know the best is yet to come But now we call it our family having developed it now for 20 years of strict testing and elimination, There are many fanciers in Holland with the bloodlines as well as the Wegen line but over there they do not put the importance on a strain name if it can be called that but more so on what it does in racing and breeding and rightly so, But as every fanciers pigeons start from some base that is why we are talking about them. There is no Pure this or that, Fanciers today build up a team of pigeons if they win out of turn in the competition they are competing at and become recognized by other fanciers then they call those pigeons by there own family name and this has gone on since the pigeon sport started and that is what we have done but the common Base is Aarden but we call it the Patrick family or strain after 20 years i think we have a right to do so. There is a great difference in strain names and the Breeding side We ourselves sometimes pair very close Brother + sister at times then bring in a branch of the family removed a fair way to put in the the progeny of the brother + Sister mating this produced the first national Section winner of this family by doing this and three brothers bred this way turned out to be outstanding breeders for us and others who had them, then of course you can bring in a complete cross But if you have a family line bred for years i would make that cross from another line bred family from a fancier who has worked his breeding the similar way that you had yourself, I hope i have put it in a way you can understand I have still not answered your question as it is hard to do so or to pick out any one fancier, but i hope the above does in a way help expat1
