  1. The 'bots' Adsence, Googlebot, Yahoo Bot... etc are just computers that crawl the internet taking an index for their search engine. Only Adsence is slightly different - it crawls a page to 'understand' what that page is about, in order to display relevant adverts (panel on right) to the content that is on that page. The bots follow most links given on a page, regardless of their human meaning, so you might see 'Googlebot replying to xx topic' however that just means that it has gone to that page (anyway it would be shown an error message on that page to tell it that it cant post a reply )
  2. This morning I made a change that fixes one of the reasons that the page gets forced wide. But the ghosting is an issue that I'm still looking into - but it should happen on fewer pages now
  3. Thanks for that Dovescot, does that happen for you on every page or just specific instances? (Doesnt happen that I can see with my IE7)
  4. The 'file too big' will refer to the size in megabytes of the file. If you've got a photo editing program; open the photo in that, and use the resize function - photos need not be more than 600 pixels wide for the web (digital cameras often take them with widths of 1,000-2,000+ pixels). Then use the 'save for web' or 'save as' function and make sure its saved as a 'jpg', 'jpeg' and compression of something around 80.
  5. If clicking them doesnt work, until I find a solution, the codes are; ;D > :'( :X :-/ :B 8) :K) : ??) Type those into your message reply and a smilie will appear when it's posted. (They're written in order that they appear in the box to the left.)
  6. IE6 is the bane of my life :-/ ;D I'll see what I can do
  7. The forum time is always GMT, it's us that have moved to BST so need to change the settings under the 'Member Center' as described in that post
  8. Are you on IE6 by any chance? :'( :'(
  9. If your clock is out (anyone) follow the advice in this post.
  10. See this post for the 'new PM' notification, or as the_fifer said there is an option to have a pop up box to notify you when you have unread PMs.
  11. Could you do a screen shot of the smilies (or lack of)? Attached is what I see
  12. Just updated a fix for the half screen issue. You may need to refresh your browser to see the effects (Press 'F5').
  13. Everything works hunky dory in Firefox, and Safari ;D No seriously if you want a safer time surfing the web, download Firefox. More info: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/features.html I've fixed the small bug that Dovescot mentions above - sounds like Rose and some others had it too (Internet Explorer 7). Superstar and jakjak, it sounds like you have Internet Explorer 6, and good news is that I have replicated the problem - so a fix should be imminent. But honestly for security of your computer, and other browsing problems either run 'Windows Update' (under 'Start - All Programs') and get version 7. Or better still go to the link above and download and start using Firefox
  14. See attached pic for the showing new PMs. Superstar; Is that Internet Explorer 6? I'll find a computer with it on and do some tests
  15. Regarding 'half screen'. Check the attachment to this reply. If your screen doesnt look like that, please post a screen shot (Press Shift-PrtScrn and then paste into Paint).

A huge thank you to Mick McGrevy who has offered a second pair of birds in this case. I have PMd you all to let you know. My apologies again, and thanks to Mick.

    dissapointed

I can only apologise and inform you both that I am doing everything I can to resolve the situation. Last night I received a bid by Casbri at 8:26pm through an email. The list was duely updated slightly later. I received a telephone bid at 8:55pm from jimmydoo. The list was updated during this time, but somehow the bid at 8:55 was missed. The lot along with many others was marked closed at approx 9:20pm. All I can say is that at 9pm we were inundated with PMs and telephone calls; and somewhere along the line the transfer from notepad to computer this bid went astray. This is wholly my fault. I will be again in touch with the members involved as soon as I can.
  18. Once you've posted 10 times (post count of 10) that restriction disappears.

  23. Leatherhead is a very small liberation site, can't comment on the others mentioned, but perhaps a bigger lib is what you're looking for.
  24. Just a quick note to let you know that 'Flight of Memory - The Scottish Homing Union 1907 - 2007' is available in the Pigeonbasics Shop now. And a heads up on... There will be a very limited number of Jack Barkel's books 'The Hidden Mysteries of Nature and Science' and 'The Modern Guide to Eye-sign and Breeding', on there soon.
  25. BBC News have taken the story. Different angle, emphasising it could be a rival fancier :-/ http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/lancashire/7288754.stm
