If flying two races at same time i.e one sprint one distance i would feed the sprinters in morning and box them up with drinker on basket so can set other birds up fer evening

white blood cells on the swab would indicate bacterial infection and the white cells would be produced to fight the infection , but not knowing which spetrum specific antibiotic ectra to treat it with is a result thats worthless without the follow up tests on what to treat it with

I've only ever used Northern Hygene when you find a good one you dont change , all micro bacteria get tested against meds and the positive results are used to treat cant get better than treating with something that works 9/10 they say you can buy it or they are happy to supply it for you if prescription only

the swabs will be in what my vets call a soup solution what this is is a simple sugar / glugose solution the reason for this is bacteria outside the gut and nothing to feed on will simply die the sugar helps them to multiple and would be multiplying for 24 hours in the post then 72 hours after they will be able to make a result but i prefer to have them run the test longer to see how the bacterias are growing , which is a more acurate test

takes a week to get a decent amount of bacterial growth and 2 weeks to get a clear count unless there is an issue with the birds health and the bacteria multiplys quicker , but your right swabs cant give results straight away , dropping samples can tho

Have done both methods early season i find it benificial to feed in boxes to create a bond with there box and makes them more tame on channel races i find you cant make them eat enough , and as says above they are then compeating for food and eat more , you can control there food more by feeding in the box and feed them all individualy , but if you have sprint races and distance races same day then box feeding the best way in my mind to get them eating more ( distance birds ) i top them up with oil seeds which they eat the lot so pros and cons for feeding both methods , thing is you get to know which grains your birds like the most and therefore can condition better for the race ahead

sound like ferials and have no social skills after all there wild and would choose to be that close in the wild

i dont know about telling form from these feathers theres far more other pointers that say form , although when i buy birds in this is one thing that i look at and i like theses to sit tight to the wing and not be over long as can reduce there areodynamics during flight unless its a blow home

best thing is to hang around Blackpool show at show pens then you might get some contacts that sell these , most fanciers bring extras to sell out of boots of cars bit like a car boot pigeon sale ;D ;D ;D ;D
