  6. it was there post may have been removed but all that does is puts it down the list in post order
  7. still there perhaps you can open the boards to see if there first
  8. rollers are still registered to the breeder unless they transfers to you , so ineffect if you have no paperwork for there transferal then they are still the owners property the birds with have a prefix to which union they are affiliated to
  9. depends what type of bird all birds should be sold with a transfer
  10. rings are perminant on old birds and once the leg is grown wont come off , any birds you buy should be transfered to yourself and therefore your property , ringing ybs should be done between 6 to 8 days old

  12. these nobbly bits may be just calcium on the surface and can be fine underneath but i would bin if not smooth as these eggs tend to get crush and are very weak
  13. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=RGJtyzikhAY
  14. as long as the egg is solid under the nobbly bits egg will be fine if thin then will get crushed , the nobbly bits are just calcium , perhaps you need to supliment this with soluble calcium or live natuaral yoghurt mixing a small bit of grit in the feed will help as well
  15. OBSERVER welcome to Pigeon Basics , we look forward to your posts enjoy the site
  16. Welcome to the site ,Miss Willis ,some poultry corn and some smaller beans ( dari or mung beans ) no more than 18% of the feed as kirky says it wont be able to eat the bigger bits due to its mouth size it looks like a tippler / tumbler to me
  17. cheers Roland and i think you wouldnt go a miss either from the list and perhaps IB , but theres many good fanciers on here with great knowledge , be hard to pick just 4
  18. Feeding and care for a bird usualy is pretty basic but each case is individual as some may just be flown out and tired whilst others could be injured . However a few tips can be applied 1) Ensure bird is safe from peditors and try to capture and retain in a box 2) most birds will carry identification rings that will enable return to there owner and often if a race bird maybe carrying a wing stamp which can be read by opening the wing 3) Pigeons need food and water some rice will do temporaly but a pigeon corn mix from a petshop be much better 2 tablespoons am and pm is enough to feed the bird for a day . The begiiners loft wouldnt be a bad idea perhaps the next time i come across a new starter , i will be willing to mentor them and take them through building a loft or buying ectra , maybe create step by step threads so can be followed by others that may come along and perhaps put them on sticky in the novice and new starter section
  19. biggest mistake when pairing early is hens are too fat and if your feeding a mix heavy in maize they can take along time to lay , put them on barley and wheat till they have laid , give a calcium supliment and mix a bit of grit in with there feed , or some soluble calcium in the water to ensure good egg formation and suply vitamins , all will help with geting hens to lay good eggs i even put live natural yoghurt in the water at this time right until youngsters weaned
