  1. i think you could be right there as ive had it through various families [or birds] but i think some fanciers confuse this with looking at a bird that has been eating black minerals, as far as respitory , i would think they would show other signs first,, just my thoughts
  2. well done all ,,,,,children in need rock.
  3. more crackers and the judge saying his prayers too ;D ;D ;D
  4. my goodness , some beautifull looking fancy birds , and in great condition ,, makes a real change to see these, it must have been some show :)
  5. unfortunately , doostalker these were :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( ;D but a good deal within scotland
  6. hi monkey ,, it looks as if you have made a good job of looking after them , and some great photos as well , im sorry to here of that response from the first fancier , but you can be assured thats not the norm, it seems you have got quite attached to them maybe in a short time youll have a place to keep pigeons, which im sure you would enjoy , as youll find them very fascinating , good luck to you anyway and hope all works out :)
  7. think it will effect pigeon sales etc, £25 pounds reasonable for 4 birds , but makes the price for one rediculous ,, had 2 birds delivered today ,,,separate pick ups nearly 48 pounds ,, a bit over the score,
  8. thats the same one i used rodders sma , i dont know if it would make any differance on the food or in the water, i only use it when birds are feeding young, do you mix anything along with it to stick to the corn , ie wheatgerm oil or c. l. o . ?and what do you think of it , ive allways found it good
  9. if i remember right ace i think theres a thread somewhere back a bit, about this ,, maybe worth a search , good luck :)
  10. youve knocked it of tony ,, thats what i was meaning speedy ;D
  11. ive heard tony that if you put it on adamp hession bag covered by another , in the heat of the house, it should sprout in no time , but have noticed that pigeons dont seem to like any damp grain , but when theve germinated [a big word from me ;D]seems that its good for them
  12. sounds good to me fifer,, at least the birds can pick at it when they want it
  13. :) think i paid about a fiver ,,, but theres a lot in it
  14. another one supposed to be good for birds is sprouted grain , maybe someone has tried this and can advise ,,, yes tony garlic great for cooking , just made a big pot of soup with maybe a bit to much garlic [can you smell my breath from there ;D ;D ;D]
  15. the goodnees in garlic is allmost endless ,,so many great qualities and completely natural
  16. two threads on this anyone think they should be merged???
  17. its seems a downward trend now with pigeons , my old club had 42 members at one time , now about 12 racing ,reason?? pigeon men cant get on,, and cant stand being beaten [few of them anyway] the grass seems allways greener on the other side , join another club
  18. would prefer reasonable enough tame birds , easier to manage , and go through less stress
  19. in my opinion , the more room they have the more contented they are , and you loose fewer
  20. at the moment using the heavy type shavings got from the agricultural store, its mostly used for the horses, , marked on the bale dust free?? but it is quite good really
  21. i think that would probably work tony , as sponge is made out of the same ingredients [listen to ainslie ;D], but my dad used to smoke the old woodbines , and just sprinkled the ends , round the nests [when they were out off course ;D] then an old girlfreind of mine [now that must have been a while ago ;D] used to put the lavender stalks and flower round the nest , so it makes you wonder , she was a great one for the herbs which she grew , but whatever , she flew a decent pigeon anyway, so it couldnt have did any harm :)
  22. tried it many times years ago , but dont know if its a bit strong but really theres newer remedies that work with the proper dosage , just trying to get back on to ,,,pigeons ;D ;D
  23. this has worked for me perfectly , someone asked where you get isogel youll get that out the chemist no probs
  24. two killed by sparrow hawks in the last few weeks,[latebreds], maybe three,, but have rectified at least some of the problem ,, with some of the tips on the forum
  25. b4 pairing i used to use wheatgerm oil,,,,,a wee bottle from pet city , cost a fortune , go to the agricultural store youll get a half gallon for that price
