  6. no one has any need to worry about posting unless the webmaster finds them undesirable or uncouth or in anyway it is spoiling it for others ,, the mods try their best to be as fair as they can,, threads are not" deleted" they are put on the private mods thread for the webmaster to see , if he feels the mods are wrong ,he will soon tell us and the postings go back up , were only the linesmen and ladiies :)but ultimately the boss" the weby " who, if it werent for him , there would be no forum ,,,so really it would be ideal if members would co-operate and continue to make this the best forum on line
  7. in the last year some of the posts have been in particularly bad taste , the webmaster is now trying a new system which will posted shortly,, sometimes a good thread can be ruined by the minority , this minority ,in future will be dealt with quite severely and the post be put back on again [after it has been "sanitized"] as with chrissies post a short time ago, perfectly good post ,,,ruined by the" minority"

  21. i had mentioned at the very beginning of the outbreak ,[when the public were frightened of their budgie etc and pigeons were not looked on kindly ] ,that the hawks which are protected could quite easy carry this disease???[killing these water birds that carry the disease, and capable of spreading it ] if Joe public thought this ,,,,it wouldn't be impossible to to kill two birds with one stone , so to speak ,,,,a great big if ,, but you get nowhere without trying.

  24. each y,b season we see an increase in desease involving the bacteria e,coli. e coli is a normal inhabitant of the digestive system of pigeons, it has desease potential, but usually needs a predisposing condition to allow it the oppertunity to cause infection, several things can "open the door"for e coli to cause desease, stress ,vieal infections intestinal parasites, nd other irritantsin the bowel such as chemicals consumed while feilding , the usual factor of ybs is adenovirus, it beginsappearing when birds are mixed . either in training , races or when accumulating birdsfrom various sources the adenovirus by itself will not cause desease, but in the presence of e,coli, it allows the e,coli, to cause desease. treating e coli infection usually eliminates symtoms although it does nothing for the adenovirus infection, this is usually conquered by the birds own immunity system with time, there is not an effective vaccine for adenovirus. so we must let it run its course as we try to control the e coli. during outbreaks usually during outbreaks ofe coli infection ,, we use a broad spectrum antibiotic such as amoxicillin to control it ,,,,antibiotics will not prevent it so only to be used during an out break, the symtoms usually include vomiting in some birds , abnormal droppings or loosedropings and lethargy the birds will not train or race well during uncontrolled outbreak, a feacal culture and sensitivity study will allow one to use the correctantibioticto use, often we just go with one that has a good track record ,,and that has little or no effect on the birds allowing one to continue training etc, amoxicillin is my first choice of anti biotic when" shooting from the hip" it is gentle on the pigeon and is the least expensive of the good antibiotics use 3 grams per gallon for about 7 days , re- treatment is often necesssary as things may deteriorate within weeks after training , as the viral infection spreads through the flock, do not forget not to use antibiotics as a preventative, they will not work as a preventative but will only allow the bacteria to become resistant to it ,,then it wont work when we really need it ,,,,,,dr david e. marx d.v.m,,, by doc white m,a,d, ;D ;D ;D,, seriously maybe of some help to fanciers as yb racing starts
  25. ooooh we didnt here of that ;D well done gemma ;D ;D ;D ;D
