wayne77 Posted November 21, 2007 Report Posted November 21, 2007 Well that is bit worrying someone has ability to make a duplicate ring. If some undesirebles get hold then birds could be sold at auctions showing correct ring but original bird may not be one on offer Think associations need to look into this.
little sam Posted November 21, 2007 Report Posted November 21, 2007 SUM 1 GONNA CONTACT RPRA THEN ? :-/ :-/
wayne77 Posted November 21, 2007 Report Posted November 21, 2007 Have emailed info to peter bryant Sam

wayne77 Posted November 21, 2007 Report Posted November 21, 2007 Yes agree Dovescot. But feel someone has got hands on a machine that does job as pretty specialist machine. I believe the rpra get rings from holland or belgium. Just wondering how many machines exist. Suppose a photo does not show if workmanship up to quality. Makes you think why someone would go to that much work to produce fake ring. If twig there is deceptionof pedigree birs on offer though could become problem.

Lets face it, a person on minimum wage probably turning out rings. you can also order rings from this country. Wouldn't be surprised if all made in pakistan or china. I used to import martial arts equipment from Germany, Holland and France. Everything except the labels on the German equipment was made in Pakistan. That way the Germans could advertise as made in Germany So I started importing straight from pakistan from the same factories as they used and put my own labels on it
retired Posted November 22, 2007 Report Posted November 22, 2007 i would presume rightly or wrongly that the RPRA could not do a thing about this type of situation
DOVEScot Posted November 22, 2007 Report Posted November 22, 2007 i would presume rightly or wrongly that the RPRA could not do a thing about this type of situation Unless they are copying rings made for the RPRA then I would think not :-/

DOVEScot Posted November 22, 2007 Report Posted November 22, 2007 even so dovescot it would be like a needle in a haystack and even then what could the RPRA really do There is nothing anyone could do. Any rings that are fake are made illegally for one purpose to make money, 1. either to collectors who think they are real or 2. to breeders so they can sell falsely rung pigeons. The first would just be a money spinner for the tool operator or owner, ring collectors that pay a lot of money would see right through it The second would have to be well thought out and organised system and could make a lot of money. It would have to be a breeder with this intent in mind to ring birds at 5 or so days old. the possibilities are endless.
