REDCHEQHEN Posted March 20, 2017 Report Posted March 20, 2017 How many days old should the eggs be before you get a positive (can see the veins - I use a torch not a candle - for safety reasons!) I have an egg that I would like to hatch if it's full - it has a few minor cracks - crazing - can this be repaired?Instructions please if possible

I have an egg that I would like to hatch if it's full - it has a few minor cracks - crazing - can this be repaired?Instructions please if possible You should see the egg starting to form from the 3rd day after the second egg is laid, you only need to hold it up to any bright light to see the formation, some times one egg willshow before the other if the hen actually incubates even say half a day before the second egg is laid. Re. patching up a egg I used to do it with a little touch of nail varnish but depends where the bash is as it may interfere with the chic chipping out of the egg, and as you know the egg is porous so don't overdo the varnish.
Potter29 Posted March 20, 2017 Report Posted March 20, 2017 Heard of a few people reparing eggs wigh water and flour even water an loft white supose any powder may do the job , but as above depends wer the crack is
REDCHEQHEN Posted March 20, 2017 Author Report Posted March 20, 2017 Five year old hen has laid both eggs on the loft floor (with a bang!) And not in the nest pan, 2nd egg today and that has a dent in it as well!
Potter29 Posted March 21, 2017 Report Posted March 21, 2017 If not pierced the film under shell should be fine ive hatched many dented eggs before , atb
