got a call female voice the other day, saying I had a problem, to deal with it press 1, which I didnt, I done 1471 and did get a number, so called it , just got, "after the bleep leave your message," have been told others are getting it and one caught out giving info, beware,

I've had a few emails in the past, all of which tell me I'm due a tax rebate and to send my card details so that it can be paid. I forwarded one to HMRC but didn't get any acknowledgement from them, yet they ask that they be told about such scams.

You can actually log in directly on the HMRC website, look up your NI contribution record and see whether you are due a tax rebate. Also see, if you haven't already retired, your pension forecast.

You need a passport to register or a driving licence and a code is sent to a phone or mobile each time you log in.

It's rare for HMRC to phone you- even when you log a query with them and "they will ring you in the next 5 working days", in my experience they never bother!

I thought so, since my wife passed away i have lots of changes getting sorted out, tax and council tax etc,
