Pompey Mick Posted April 22, 2008 Report Posted April 22, 2008 When do we ever have a 'level playing field, in sport ? Look at Bournemouth, struggling to stay afloat in the football league for the want of the sort of money that wouldn't pay for a Premiership player's arm. It an absolute waste of time trying to drag back progress, remember the anti-widowhood brigade. Any sport that doesn't move with the times, dies. And our Sport is struggling to survive anyway. One plus to come out of the ETS saga for those that want to stay 'traditional' is that you can buy decent clocks for very reasonable prices nowadays. If you are really set on the 'level playing field' (which defeats all ambition in sport) then enter your birds in one-loft races.

Guest spin cycle Posted April 24, 2008 Report Posted April 24, 2008 good points from the pro ets about 'stall traps' , 'money/time' and 'it won't make the birds fly any faster'. unfortunatly , if this is the case, then. why does the ets lobby feel the need to try and extract every possible piece of advantage it can? the 'playing field' is not level but is this any excuse to make it more uneven? surely the resposibility of the rpra is to ensure as level a 'playing field' as possible. i'm not anti ets ( i could do with it this weekend, as i have an appointment at 9:30 and if its an early release i could miss them home) but it's the manner of it's introduction that is causing the problem. NOW THEN...were ets penalties ruled out because velocities are based on 'actual flying time'? i'm not sure but if they were then there is the counter argument that says that conventional clockers should get a time allowance as when the the rubber is being removed the bird is not flying. in other words the very argument that ruled out ets time penalties endorses the argument that conventional clockers should recieve a time allowance.

Let them eat crumbs! must be your motto I take it.

DOVEScot Posted April 24, 2008 Report Posted April 24, 2008 yes u used to run to a given post, with your bird i believe. Was there a complaint when they brought out NIKE AIRS being an unfair advantage over the old black pumps ;D ;D ;D
THE FIFER Posted April 24, 2008 Report Posted April 24, 2008 when you have to run to another clock,, you get 4mins to the mile, that was the world record then, was that fair asking old bowdy legget men with 2 sticks to run a mile in the world record ;D ;D ;D PS, and if you used a bike the time was halved

DOVEScot Posted April 24, 2008 Report Posted April 24, 2008 Must be lot fitter in those days 4min mile be lucky if most could do a 40min mile ;D Aye, Rodger Bannister was employed as courier then ;)
THE FIFER Posted April 24, 2008 Report Posted April 24, 2008 Must be lot fitter in those days 4min mile be lucky if most could do a 40min mile ;D just looked up the SHU rule for now, yes its still the same, quote :running allowance 4 mins to the mile by the nearest available route, and cycles half that time, so the only difference from away back is you use cycles now instead of bykes ;D ;D ;D
THE FIFER Posted April 24, 2008 Report Posted April 24, 2008 Aye, Rodger Bannister was employed as courier then ;) thats where the time was taken from Roger Bannister, he had just broken the 4 min mile, and they say its fair to ask old pigen fanciers to do it ;)
