Does the ETS pad have to be inside the actual loft, or inside the trap?

theres been abit of a debate at out local club as some people have external traps with pads in, im setting my loft up for ETS for the next season so would like to get it right 1st time!

the rules in our rule book says "pads must be placed inside the loft or trapping area (not under any external landing board) in such a way that when the loft is closed, no electronic chip ring may be recorded by the ets"

does that mean it could be used in an external trap, but once the door on the trap is closed the pad cant read them?...

so you could have like a tunnel with a door on the front then the pad inside the tunnel, then at the end of the tunnel have bob wires ?

I am sure most Unions rule that the pigeon must be confined within the loft. It used to state within the confines of the loft and this raised the dubiety regards the position of the pad on the trap. Some traps allowed the pigeon to register before it was confined to the loft. Check out what your particular union rules. :)
