Guest Gareth Rankin Posted September 13, 2009 Report Posted September 13, 2009 Have nothing against the man personally, but his reports are biased in the extreme.FACT. An example of his so called biased reports would be interesting Vincent. Is it not the case that he is just a very proud and passionate PRO who puts this into his writings for one of the most historical National clubs in the world. cheers Gareth

Guest bigda Posted September 13, 2009 Report Posted September 13, 2009 SNFC site history of gold awards for a start. Vince the gold awards where for 5 times across the channel in race time and a certain race i believe
Guest Posted September 13, 2009 Report Posted September 13, 2009 that is only for older holding members vincey there are no new loop holes If i fly in a partnership with pigeons registered to a partnership in one fed,but fly in a sole name with different pigeons registered to the sole member in the other fed then that is were the loophole can be exploited. As i say it is already being done, but lifes too short cant be bothered with it but could do it fact.

Guest Gareth Rankin Posted September 13, 2009 Report Posted September 13, 2009 Gold awards a few and far between and as such every pigeon that gains one should be remembered and documented within the clubs history, if this has happened then it should be rectified by whatever means. Who do these gold awards belong too

Guest Posted September 13, 2009 Report Posted September 13, 2009 naw he forgot about auld hammy as well did he not , That seems to be another mate with the 100 years book, not that clued up on it you could maybe educate us all on the failings of the book.
Guest Gareth Rankin Posted September 13, 2009 Report Posted September 13, 2009 William Johnstone Lanark now Carluke /William Watson Kirkfieldbank Your Uncle Willies Pied hen was a cracking pigeon but here is a section written on the SNFC website about the history of the Gold awards and to be fair Vincent to Joe in this article he has only mentioned around 20% of the Gold awards which was only meant to be a brief insight into the history of the gold awards. Am i right in saying that the hen scored 3 times from Rennes and twice from Sartilly, please put her postions up here as i love looking at these great pigeons performances. Gold Award Winners It is the same with the Gold Awards these have been won by some of the GREATEST LONG DISTANCE PIGEONS EVER, they are very hard to win especially in the climate we race our pigeons now. However to win an SNFC Gold Award is the next best thing to winning a national trophy. First Winners The first 2 winners were in 1975 to G Bain & son of Danderhall and Dave Rose of Aberdeen who won his second gold award in 1996. Then in 1977 Mr & Mrs Smith of Elphinstone won their first gold award with the grand mother of ‘Fortune Lady’. Then in 1983 they won gold award number two with the dam of ‘Fortune Lady’. Newcombe Brothers won gold awards in 1980, 1982, 1984 and 1985. Dale Newcombe won gold awards in 1998 and again in with a grand son of ‘Fortune Lady’ in 2002. Bobby Carruthers of Bonnyrigg is another great fancier to have won 4 gold awards three of these were won in 1985 and another in 1989. Jock Allan of Symington also won 4 gold awards his first in 1983, then another in 1984, and another two in 1985. Mr & Mrs B Scott of Brydekirk won 3 gold awards with two in 1978 and another in 1982. J Honeyman & son of Kennoway have also won 3 gold awards with their first in 1989, then in 1992 and 1996. J B Spears of Coastream won 3 gold awards one in 1983, and two in 1985. A Johnstone & son of Pencaitland won their fist gold award in 1979 with another the following year 1980. Then son Brian won a gold award flying on his own in 1984. John Bosworth of Elphinstone won his first gold award in 1995 and another in 2000. Jock King of Kirkcaldy won his first in 1993 and another ten years later in 2003. George MacAloney & son of Coatbridge won their first gold award in 1988 and their second in 1997. Stan Bonnington of Haddington won his first in 1981 and another in 1986; Anderson and Brown of Kirkintilloch won 2 gold awards with their first in 1984 and their second in 1988. Jimmy Dalgleish of Annan was another fancier to win the coveted gold award double with his first coming in 1983 and he completed the double with his second win in 1990. Dennis Dall won his first gold award in 1989 and his second in 2003. Tam McLeod of Elphinstone won his first gold award in 1991 and his second in 2003. And so the list goes on and on, as much as I would love to print every gold award winners name I’m afraid I cannot. This is a very hard award to achieve and many fanciers have had birds that have won 4 times and have failed to win that elusive 5th prize. That is what makes these pigeons mentioned above special and the next pigeon is something extraordinary.
nogin Posted September 13, 2009 Report Posted September 13, 2009 That seems to be another mate with the 100 years book, not that clued up on it you could maybe educate us all on the failings of the book. WELL THERE'S ONE THING YOUR MOTLEY CREW WILL NEVER GET TO THE 100 MILE STONE ;D ;D ;D
Guest wattle Posted September 13, 2009 Report Posted September 13, 2009 with some of the lofts around, its know wonder the pigeons don,t want to go home, full of sh.t ;D

The book compiled on the history of the 100 years was compilled by the Late Rev Sam Ovens who was president at the time and the articles within the book were written by 10 different men, many who put a lot of hours of research into it for only one thing and that was the love of the club. So to criticise these mens efforts in any way is very unjust.

Hope i have not received the wrong info regarding Sam Ovens health, if I have got this wrong then I do apologise and wish him all the best for the future.
