been looking at alot of loft pictures over the last few days before i start to build mine.. ive noticed about 90% of lofts seem to have sliding external and internal doors..

just wondering what the benefits are over sliding doors over the standard out over opening doors?

also any one have any idea what sort of runners are used on the sliding doors and where they can be purchased?

As stated above, sliding doors take up less room. there are two wheels and a length or aluminium runner. These are fine to use, but there is other ways and even better sliding mechanism, such as roller bearings, like those used on some of the higher quality drawers. I put a thread up about sliding windows, for my new loft build. We are looking for the same thing, but on different scale. What I have decided on is, using a piece of 1/2" square timber as a runner and have routed out a channel slightly larger, to slide my windows on. Look on various loft sites such as Tranters or Parkhall and see if you get some insipration. Good luck and keep us updated.
