pjc Posted March 31, 2009 Report Posted March 31, 2009 and thats my point each person deals with this, in their own way,it works for you for me it would not, the only thing i would disagree with is that most birds clear the droppings from the nest site, they have to, otherwise they would be cat food Many people don't clean arround the bowls on a daily or weekly basis as they don't like to disturb the birds especialy yearling how could leave the nest and stop feeding the young. Mark has also stated that he has been away and its hard enough to get somebody you can trust to feed the birds let alone expect them to clean out as well!
Guest TIMBARRA LOFTS Posted March 31, 2009 Report Posted March 31, 2009 guys keep giving your insults because while your insulting me, your leaving someone else alone, i got a thick skin and can handle your petty comments. I do not see why you cant let this site thrive for helping others.. but have a nice day guys.

kirky Posted March 31, 2009 Report Posted March 31, 2009 I looked after marks birds while he was away and thay were all in brillant nick, I could only feed & water them as I was on night shifts the whole time he was away, then had my own to see to before going to bed, mark took the pics the next day when he got back, the ventalation in his loft is that good that after 7 days with no cleaning out there was no smell in the loft at all.

Never had mine tested, TBH never felt the need, sent some birds away once just to see, but he found nothing unusual.
pjc Posted March 31, 2009 Report Posted March 31, 2009 normally you get a test kit which contains a pot for droppings ans swabs for throat. Take a selection of droppings from around the loft or keep each section seperate and then some sample throat swabs.

Guest numpty01 Posted March 31, 2009 Report Posted March 31, 2009 one comment leads to loads post on something that really should have been ignored thank f its over

Anything that does get ill, will only be treated for what i think it is, if it does not respond then its removed permanently. I've never had any real serious colony outbreaks (no more than 2 or 3 birds getting ill). I know there are those that say they could be a potential champion your culling, but ain't they all at the beginnig of the season, but we never worry too much when they go missing or do nowt do we.

Have to agree 99% of the time if a birds ailing when rests fine i would isolate give a few days no better then it goes in garden , ill or weak birds are gateways for illness in the loft if a birds constitution is sound they rarely ail if the managements right
