One for the widowhood fancier?

How do you select your hens?

Let the cock pick his own mate just as you would a wife .

depends if you wish to save the young birds from certain winning cocks in which case you would select the hen you wish to run him with, you may also have selected certain birds for the longer races, again I would select hens that you sure are going to be there later in the season.I never believe in letting birds select there on mates (I know of at least 1 great national flyer who selected mates for a small number of his best birds and the rest were allowed to select there own)it worked for him,it is less time consuming letting them select there own.

I let them select there own mate to race to never take young from them that's what my stock are for but agree if taking young from them defo best to best

I try at first to give a cock a hen that I feel complement each other, If they don't take to each other the cock gets to choose.

What do you do with your hens after yb racing?

Tried racing them widowhood but useless at it so give up meantime will race the hens celibate as this year then pair up as season progresses cocks don't get hens till after 5 or 6th race used to keep the hens boxed for cocks but found they will race just as well early season to there box which they have access to 24-7 everyone to there on George .
