Guest Hjaltland Posted January 9, 2010 Report Posted January 9, 2010 Anthony Bolton is the No1 although i dont know if he is into it as he once was ? but there are some great guys out there now Anthony Bolton did his work the hard way, and with no help from photoshop or paint shop pro to enhance the end result he produced classy looking photos. But time has moved on and the digital age has opened the door for everyone, so good pics of your favourite birds can be dealt with so much more easily. I cant say I care much for all the junk that goes in the background of a lot of these now, it takes away from the actual pic of the bird itself in lots of cases.
retired Posted January 9, 2010 Author Report Posted January 9, 2010 I wouldn't have Peter Bennett as he is a convicted Racing cheat & is sin died from ever racing again so dont know his prices & I couldn' tell you how much Jeff is either mate as all the ones i have got has been won as jeff donates photos for the wnrs of fed & combine wnrs what i will say is Jeff Walton is an exeptional photographer he is also doing Websites for people now such as Premier Stud etc I did get told that Peter Bennett is retiring very shortly as was suggested by the person who called that Charlotte look at buying his equipment etc however didnt think it was a good idea even mentioning it to her as she is busy enough deicing the drinkers each day ;D

But whats better a natural picture of the pigeon or a picture that is touched up by hand as Anthony Boltons are?
retired Posted January 9, 2010 Author Report Posted January 9, 2010 What im looking for on the thread is a really fantastic picture Professional standard, bird with a good stand, etc etc or if someone has some really good clear pictures of birds in flight then that would be just as good

Guest j.bamling Posted January 9, 2010 Report Posted January 9, 2010 Ones this size from Jeff i am told are about £80 them are 2ft long x 1 &1/2 ft wide
retired Posted January 9, 2010 Author Report Posted January 9, 2010 like this chris? Yes mate - I think you can do too much with a picture - Example and only a personal view - NRCC Lerwick montage this year had 1,2,3 in the open pictured above a cartoon type map of British isles with the bird positioned where its home town is - Will see if i can dig it out as have the pic somewhere - just my view though that it detracts too much from the actual bird.
Guest bakes Posted January 9, 2010 Report Posted January 9, 2010 Ones this size from Jeff i am told are about £80 can believe it jimmy mate the background it self would take few hours to make up with the cut out of bridges and details then you got the bird to cut out then to paste onto background pic changeing lighting and so on to it look better then you got to change the writeing so it looks good for the background and the bird thats why i just do it for fun when im not at work i do picks most of the day i'll sit in the loft on the laptop and make loads plus the ones most the pics i make the owners send the pic of the birds to my email address been a pleasure to make pics of birds that has won nationals, open combines, fed club wins plus one loft race wins, the fanciers first birds there son and daughters favourites it doesnt bother me how long it takes me to make the pics its all worth while when they say thanks mate i apprecaite that i tell ya brillent feeling when i go up my mates house he got 8 of my pics on his wall each of them took me 3 hours a pic printed them off onto photo paper and framed them for him as i said before not a professional and never will be as not got the time to give it 100% but happy makeing pics for the flyers if there happy with the pics and it saves them a few bob its all good all the best k.baker

The first pic, head turned, flights not sitting straight, tail split. When the pic is edited these are things near impossible to correct.
Guest mick bowler Posted January 9, 2010 Report Posted January 9, 2010 Don't you hate the term "beaten by loftmate" or even worse "loftmates"!! It never won, simple as!! ;D
Guest bakes Posted January 9, 2010 Report Posted January 9, 2010 thats why i would never do it perfessional as there is always one thing that will alway not be bang on in place the differnce from some one doing it for fun to someone doing it for a living the little detail you dont pick up stands out a mile for someone that no's what they doing with photography backgrounds all the best k.baker
