bullcock Posted June 4, 2013 Report Posted June 4, 2013 As most know I don't race my youngsters or if I do then its one or two races at most , I have lost 2/3 rds of my yearlings up to now , half of them training , quite sure Percy has lts to do with that , but other guys in club that have raced their youngsters right out are no better than me % wise , it's the same when yearlings ,IMHO. Gone are the days when u could send them all out to the later races, even the coast . I think if you can get them out to Leicester distance 270 odd miles then they are worth putting bye till next year . We lose a large % of our yearlings before 250mile every year, this year was no different, two years work down the pan before 1st June!, the same as last year and the one before and next year....You know my opinion on starting early so I'm not going over it again Stuart, but every year come June most members are finished and the weather is just starting to get warm, but they all love to fly them in winter conditions in April and May, if we started a few weeks later and we were at 150mile this week, how many would still have yearlings after 250mile by the Middle of June?Sorry I said I wasn't going to go over it again oops, LOL.
