Guest nikkimass35 Posted April 29, 2013 Report Posted April 29, 2013 Hi all i am after some advice for the last couple of weeks my race birds have not been eating the big brown and white peas. When i feed them they eat all the other seeds and leave the peas but they are still hungry. I have had 2 races and the 1st week i was 1st 2nd and 5th and last week in a very hard race i had the worst race of my life 1st bird being over an hour behind the winner. The birds seem well in them selves and im thinking the weekend race was so bad because the birds didnt have enough energy by not eating the peas. All my birds are sitting eggs Can anyone please give me some advice, Im thinking of changing food i am using bamfords all rounder at the moment. Thanks for reading mass
PIGEONPACKMAN Posted April 29, 2013 Report Posted April 29, 2013 have they been loft flying well ?I have had problems with bamfords not giving the birds what they need ,changed to versa laga traditional last weak and already seeing a big improvement in there generall condition and energy level,Iwouldn't dream of going back to bamfords but thats just my experiance .Birds may need a rest for a while.
andyyy Posted April 29, 2013 Report Posted April 29, 2013 After the Saturday of the 1st race, how long did they rest for?
Guest nikkimass35 Posted April 29, 2013 Report Posted April 29, 2013 Hi guys thanks for the replies. some days they will fly 40 ish minutes morning and night and some days thay will only fly 10 to 15 minutes they fly on natural system. I have only had 1 training toss and that was before the first race. The first race was quite an easy race with most birds back in 10 minutes. They had a bath saturday and sunday and went out sunday evening for a fly then back to routein on monday. I couldnt get my head round why thay were so far behind this weekend so i thought i would watch them today and after feeding them this morning and this evening there was loads of peas left over, so i put some food in my hand and the birds were all round me flicking the peas everywhere looking for the small seeds and maize. The birds look very well and handle well. So could it be the food, i just dont know

So could it be the food, i just dont know i would add some barley to there feed and feed a small amount at a time making sure they eat all the barley, if not, walk away, no more food, they will eat the peas before the barley.
