Tony C Posted April 23, 2013 Report Posted April 23, 2013 I often jest about birds heldover due to a sandstorm at the liberation point but ............ http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-22260836
john cumming Posted April 23, 2013 Report Posted April 23, 2013 letting birds up in that weather would have been suicide , we couldnt let the birds out at all and there was quite a bit of dust in the lofts ,we just live along the coast about 20 miles east and it was like that with us as well and maybe worse and less visibility, this storms lasted around 36 hours was so bad vis was only a few feet at times and driving was to say at best dangerous, the dust got everywhere, there was a covering all through our back place and kitchen, john

john cumming Posted April 23, 2013 Report Posted April 23, 2013 Was this a one off John or have you experienced this type event in the past we have had them from time to time in the past but not this bad for a very long time, usually a few hours but this was bad it was strange watching the sand coming towards you , was like seeing the fog heading towards you but it was sand, roads in the area were difficult to drive on because the sand was lying on it like sand dunes, visibility was bad like driving in fog, if there had been pigeons up here to be liberated it would have been a holdover for sure john
