How do they come about? Have bred one from a crossing of 50% Frank Tasker x 25% Gevaert Van Schoorise x 25% Frans Laermans blood. To my knowledge there is no Frills in either parents lines, and have been paired before and never produced one.

i have 1 stock cock with a chest frill (stanley) he is not crossed and neither is his hen .at stock 3 years ,produced 12 young so far ,last year 1 hen with a frill (only 1 from 12) .but i dont know why ,or in all honesty care too much .happy enough with them regardless .

Frills are caused by a recessive trait which goes back to the Antwerp Smerle which was used in producing the racers which also has a zipper frill the only prob with frill is on a wet windy race the frill will blow wide open exposing the bare skin

Cheers for the info H@wk, it's answered my question. they used to appear in my Lefebre Dhaenens quiet often but the frills I've had have never made the grade racing However I've never tried breeding from any either for the same reason.
