My widows only sit and rear once before the season, there watched then as soon as the cocks on the drive again no matter what age the hens and youngsters are removed.

When the youngsters are around 15 days old I remove the hens. For the pairs that are rearing two youngsters I also remove one youngster which go in with the hens, the w/hood cocks then rear a single youngster each. I then repair the pigeons 16 days before the first race so come the race they're sitting 6 days. I find when the hens are removed the cocks start exercising with vigour and get themselves in trim. Once repaired I start training them (weather permitting). When they return from the first race the hens have been removed and I let the cocks sit their eggs till they chuck them in, from then on they're on w/hood.
