gooner Posted April 26, 2009 Author Report Posted April 26, 2009 just in from my club and just read this thread...sorry not to have wished bob luck earlier i was in this race...earlier i felt they may have run into something but i'm not sure now...the wind was 'on the nose' and could have just made it slow and also its a new lib point ( would that make a difference ?). returns to us are pretty good. best of luck for some more home tommorow .....ps don't blame unc 'cos redcheqhen will get you(evil)(evil) wasnt blaming unc but our race controller cos on my reconing the unc would have been on top of ours as we liberated JMO
Guest Posted April 26, 2009 Report Posted April 26, 2009 Could be right, but hey, schit happens, what's done is done, just have to go back to the drawing board and reconcider my options. Not going to start pointing fingers, not my way of solving things.
Guest Posted April 26, 2009 Report Posted April 26, 2009 got any more home bob paul No more yet Paul, so its looking like my OB racing is done for the year
celtic Posted April 26, 2009 Report Posted April 26, 2009 An unfortunate first race back for you Bob, but never mind keep the chin up.
Guest Posted April 26, 2009 Report Posted April 26, 2009 An unfortunate first race back for you Bob, but never mind keep the chin up. Thanks mate. I WILL. I wouldn't mind, but been in pigeons all my life (60 years), and can say hand on heart that I can't pinpoint anything wrong with the management side. Fed top corn, well trained, clean bill of health etc etc. So something went wrong that was out of my control and no one will convince me that I was the only one in the NNRCC who incurred losses yesterday with first timers.

pjc Posted April 26, 2009 Report Posted April 26, 2009 can't put it down to clashing if others had good returns, maybe down to inexperienced birds have not been raced as youngbirds. Hope you see some more home this morning Bob!
gooner Posted April 26, 2009 Author Report Posted April 26, 2009 well something strange goin on cos now dads had another one reported in grimsby, so thats one gone north about 60 miles and one only made it 30 miles from race point, sorry but dads birds aint that stupid plus they were coming like rockets in training
Guest Posted April 27, 2009 Report Posted April 27, 2009 UPDATE: Well inexperienced first timers they may have been, but well trained they certainly were. One bird home at 5.30pm Saturday. One pigeon reported just short Hartlepool, pigeon dropped with his race birds at 10.10 Saturday morning. Another pigeon reported in Grimsby, on fanciers loft at 4.30am Sunday morning, flown out. Gentleman said birds were coming over his loft in droves on Saturday morning. UNC, WDA, Durham Combine, New North Amal and Yorkshire Middle Route all at Huntingdon, which is 65 mile due West of Norwich. Our birds liberated from Great Driffield at 8.30am into a strong South Westerly. Draw your own conclusions. I have drawn mine. Many many first timers missing from local pigeon men, what chance did these inexperienced pigeons have? :-/ :- Gentleman, all facts, Not excuses.
pjc Posted April 27, 2009 Report Posted April 27, 2009 there is to little communication between convoyers and race organisers, always has been and it seems always will be! If you know there is a possibility of 2 liberations of approx 20,000 birds in each heading towards you would you liberate? Anybody with any sense would check for other liberations and then allow the birds to pass before liberating to give there charges a fair chance but this happens time and time again. The convoyers job isn't an easy one but a lot more can be done to avoid clashing etc.
Guest numpty01 Posted April 27, 2009 Report Posted April 27, 2009 failure to think is half the problems with loss.s why are birds let go in thousands so near others sixsty miles apart is nothing in the air we have watched wrexam at chepstow with 11000go and then as circling seen bunches join them going bristol way you never think how many split not maney
Guest numpty01 Posted April 27, 2009 Report Posted April 27, 2009 one lot we dread is unc if in our line flight but think on this if they are in youer line then surely other convoyers know and can hold so what if its for houres i would rather my birds in say lib of 2000 not get involved with 32000 on way home
Guest vining45 Posted April 27, 2009 Report Posted April 27, 2009 seen unc lib first time ive seen so many bird together its a sight to see
Guest numpty01 Posted April 27, 2009 Report Posted April 27, 2009 fantastic but daunting for other libs anywere enrouteespeacaly if youer flying from north
retired Posted April 27, 2009 Report Posted April 27, 2009 Sorry about your race Bob - Keep your head up, but sure you will anyways. Im in Grimsby this afternoon if you want that bird collecting??

stan p Posted April 27, 2009 Report Posted April 27, 2009 i hope amost work there way back for you if theydo they will make beter birds keep trying thats all we can do

Guest Freebird Posted April 27, 2009 Report Posted April 27, 2009 Sorry to hear of your misfortune especially in your first race in a decade. Things can only get better Bob and hopefully the birds you get back will give the results you deserve in the remaining races.
OLDYELLOW Posted April 28, 2009 Report Posted April 28, 2009 still only takes one to win a race you racing it bob ? you never know a few may turn up next week
