yes that is what it was used on people that where not feeding them self mostly dehydrated and undernourished, usage in pigeons is to stop them from drinking loads of water builds new feather like gives the bird more protein i would say if its used now and again maybe once a month during racing it would give them a buzz for a race up to

125 mile with the sugar content, after that could be a hindrance as maze would be a better choice for the distance
