demolition man Posted September 17, 2012 Report Posted September 17, 2012 Do you think there's any thing in having your birds racing with pink skin and no scales around the breast bone, and if you do what do you use to achieve it?
Tony C Posted September 17, 2012 Report Posted September 17, 2012 I dont think its an indicator of form as some others believe. Either tea, garlic or grapefruit seed extract given over 7 days will clean a pigeons breast up. These three products all have something in common..................... pigeons dont like the taste of them which = they drink less and as we know withhold water from a pigeon and the down falls like confetti.

Tony, don't know about you, but I'm off the opinion to much down fall in short period is bad, but a steady down fall is better. I feel when a lot of down fall comes from a bird, that particular bird wasn't right, for one reason or the other, and once it's released a lot of down, the condition is getting better but defiantly isn't there yet.

Guest christian71 Posted November 25, 2012 Report Posted November 25, 2012 I have found when sprint racing if they are pink they are right i have looked at wnning pigeons and most were pink. But when you get on the channel blue scalely pigeons win
Guest Owen Posted November 25, 2012 Report Posted November 25, 2012 Jason a friend of mine came to the house last year and told me about this pink skin and the form spot. I had heard of it before but it meant nothing to me because I am colour blind and couldn't see pink if I wanted to. I can't even tell when my birds look good. People often tell me that my birds look in lovely condition when I take them to the Club but it never means anything to me. Anyhow I suggested that we go and see what condition my birds were in. I knew they couldn't be too bad because they had won the week before. It turned out that my birds had scaly skin on the breast and no form spot. So according to the theory my birds were off the pace. A couple of days later they won the first 5 positions in the Club and 2 Fed positions. Another of those theories bit the dust that day. I find that like a lot of these theories the logic seems to be fine but in practise they do not work a lot of the time. I certainly will not bother about it again.
