i helped an old fancier with this problem a few years back ,using "old hands" trick of making a small nick in the flesh to expel the air within ,let the bird fly into the loft after done to expel any further air .hope this helps ,and please post after its done.

i dont to be honest , the fancier i helped previously had his birds vaccinated a few days before .the vaccination was done by a heavy handed pair of farm hands who it appears had either ruptured the air sack or injected into a void below the flesh . the birds werre fine afterwards ,and the small hen scored at a distance race later that season. good luck.

hi mr burgess just to let u know that i tried what you suggested and the air in them seemed to go away, they had two training spins, but sent 11 today (saturday)

IT IS 72 MILES LIBERATED at 8 oclock my first bird timed at 9.35 i had 4 by 10 oclock left the loft at 11 oclock and had only 6, out of the missing 2 was there first race and 3 with the air in the crop and 2 of them had 2 race before perhaps i should not have sent them but its a lesson learned and u never know they could make their way back, anyway thanks for the advice at least it did get rid of it

plenty of time for the others to turn up ,best of luck . i dont think the procedure would account for them not being home yet ,have had birds home with horrendous injuries and you wonder how they made it .

had 8 out of the 11 now only 1 of the birds with air in them came out but there was no air in the crop so i suppose thats a good thing, most people had a number of birds away so i cant really complain races have been very difficult this year. my first bird was 3rd club she as a 2nd and 2 3rds now in 3 races the disappointing thing was she was 10 minutes behind the winner, i have 2 race next week 1 from a short distance again and the welsh south road nat from Guernsey so i will keep battling along, anyway thank you for the advice nobody seems to know what causes it but i know now how to get rid of it. cheers
