alex wight Posted July 24, 2012 Report Posted July 24, 2012 I have raised this with John McCord and he was speaking to Ian Hynd for his advice. I gave a couple of suggestions, 1. delay the programme by one week and keep the current races on it. This would mean that there was 2 races on the day of the yb national. Or to do away with a witton castle and delay it by a week. John was considering but ive never heard of anything. I,m on holiday at the moment but still in contact. If i hear anything i,ll keep you posted.
Guest vice president Posted July 24, 2012 Report Posted July 24, 2012 it will be wakefield open and the y bird nat the same day you cant have that :animatedpigeons:

sapper756 Posted July 25, 2012 Report Posted July 25, 2012 I fully understand square-peg's and other folks concerns regarding the lack of opportunity to train youngsters due to the terrible weather we have experienced lately, how ever, we are 3 weeks behind some other feds already with our young bird programme, and to delay it further would in my opinion set us further back. Many fed members voiced their disapointment last season at the lack of young bird races(5), so this year we have an extra race, we can not afford to lose any of the races, in my opinion. The possitive point is that because of our programmes, the first race from Kelso 46miles, if fanciers are not ready for this, they can easily jump them into the 2nd race point which is 75 miles, providing the youngsters have been adequately trained. We still have 10 days before the first race, and the weather looks to be improving, so get the training whenever you can folks, and good luck. This is simply my opinionhttp://forum.pigeonbasics.org/public/style_emoticons/default/animatedpigeons.gif
alex wight Posted July 25, 2012 Report Posted July 25, 2012 I,ll pass this info on to the president. John was asked if this would be an option, with some fanciers raising the concern, of lack of opportunity to train birds. As pointed out, it would confuse matters by changing the start time. In my opinion the racing for young birds starts far too late at the moment, and our fed plays catch up. When you suggest bringing it forward, the response is that you wont have time to train young birds as well as racing old birds. The officials listen to the membership, and dont just steam in and do things on their own accord, its the membership that runs the fed. Going on whats been said on this topic, it would be just to leave it as it is. As i said, i,ll pass this info on to john. Cheers for the input guys.
square_peg Posted July 25, 2012 Author Report Posted July 25, 2012 thanks for all the replies , this post was put up 5 days ago....when the weather was sh**e to say the least, when folk i spoke to hadnt had much in the way of training because of the weather.I do agree that the weather has improved , lets hope it stays that way for us. all the best for the y/b season
