Im not sure if this is the right place to post this but its worth a shot.

Theres a gorgeous wee pigeon that has been on our street for 3 days so far which belongs to someone i think.

It is predominently white with a mottled head and shoulders and very tame.

It has green plastic bands round each leg - they are very slim so dont know if there would be numbers on them?

I cant bring it into the house as we have 2 dogs but would love it to be reunited with its owner.

Any advice appreciated.

Hi RB, Thanks for your concern for the pigeon, there will almost certainly be No's on the rings, one could possibly be a 'phone No. ring but unless you can catch and contain the bird we can't help a lot, might be able to find a fancier from Cardiff willing to help.

Hi RB, This may not be a racing pigeon at all judging by your description.Could well be a highflyer of sorts if its "WEE" as this is a colour that lots of this type of pigeon have. Tippler "prints" come to mind as well as pakistani highfliers, and many other breeds also have these markings. There are lots of different breeds for sale on "birdtrader" so it may be worth having a look to see if any compare to the one in your street? These could well have clip on style rings which dont have numbers, but like the previous reply stated, you would need to contain the bird to find out as that would be the only way to trace the owner. The only way to find a genuine owner is by the letters and numbers on the ring and if these are absent then it would be almost impossible to trace the genuine owner.Good luck in your quest and thanks for trying to repatriate the bird :).

Thanks guys. he's still on our street but quite a few of us are looking after him with food and water.

he's so tame he was eating out of my hand so I could see the rings definitely have nothing on them but are just fluorescent green slim plastic.

what would they mean?

I hope he'll survive - I've grown quite attached to the little thing!

I had a look and think his markings are that of a japanese highflyer.

Thanks for your replies anyway
