THE FIFER Posted May 16, 2012 Report Posted May 16, 2012 Name = Anne Allen email= greenoaks@btinternet.com Article = I am writing regarding the sale of a family silver pigeon racing cup. My great-grandfather was J.W. Logan Esq. who was the first President of The National Flying Club. The cup is engraved with pigeons and engraved with the words ‘Open Pigeon Race from the Scilly Isles 29 July 1881 Presented by John W Logan to the owner of the first bird won by George H Logan Market Harbora Distance 292½ miles velocity 1027 yards’. I understand my great-grandfather was highly respected in the pigeon-racing world and Logan birds still known, so this may be of interest to someone. The cup is to be auctioned by HoseRhodesDickson on April 26th, their website is www.hrdauctionrooms.co.uk and it will be Lot 104. The sale is on the Isle of Wight where we live but I understand telephone/internet bids are an option.Your Own? = Yes
