Guest geordiejen Posted May 7, 2012 Report Posted May 7, 2012 hi guys i would like to know how often or if anyone crushes up calcium tabs and puts it in the feed?although pigeon grit and minerals should be efficient enough for egg production it cant do the birds any harm with a little extra calcium in the system right?also some calcium tabs contain other ingredients so i will be watching what pills i buy.
greenlands Posted May 7, 2012 Report Posted May 7, 2012 If you want to add calcium why not use Osteocare to their feed.http://www.boots.com/en/Vitabiotics-Osteocare-Liquid-200ml_921507/
Guest geordiejen Posted May 7, 2012 Report Posted May 7, 2012 hi mate i had a look at this stuff in holland and barret yesterday but wasnt sure if it would suit the birds.it also has other ingredients magnesium, zinc, and vitamin d3.
greenlands Posted May 7, 2012 Report Posted May 7, 2012 Some good fanciers give it to their birds when breeding.Do a search on it mate, box top right. Lindsay
OLDYELLOW Posted May 7, 2012 Report Posted May 7, 2012 most other elements in yer grits and minerals so no harm
St Finnan Loft Posted May 7, 2012 Report Posted May 7, 2012 Calcium overdose can cause damage to the kidneys an overdose becomes toxic in the system and is therefore a poison this does not only apply to calcium.
Guest IB Posted May 7, 2012 Report Posted May 7, 2012 Agree with the last post. IMO unwise to give calcium as an individual supplement, it works in conjuction with (and needs to be in balance with) others like phosphorus (spelling) Vit D and Vit A.
