Can anyone shed some light of a dilemma that happened yesterday. I have my birds in a routine going out and being called in and I haven't been able to fault them until yesterday. They were let out the same time as they always are flew for about 40 mins approx and was time to get them in. I called them as i always do and they just sat there for 2 hours pecking in gutters etc messing about on the house roof. They are not sick dropping are perfect, they look and handle perfect. I believe the sun/ heat played a big part in it as it was roasting here yesterday, i will no longer let them out in this heat again.

Has anyone else had this problem before and put it down to this..

when they are enjoying the sun they open the wings a bit and lie there for ages.i would rather see mine sunning it rather than keep the in a loft away from it.long winter for birds mate im pretty sure it pisses them off as much as us.

Always try to analyse things , your birds were in a routine and fine , what changed ???? the sun and heat , right now you know what's changed , it's the weather , your feed is for cold / winter , your birds aren't using a proportion of there feed to keep themselves warm so now they have surplus energy , either cut the corn back or add more barley ;)

Wednesday and Thursday I had 8 not wanting to come in till almost dark which was unusual however I noticed the K.P. index was double the normal and there could be the problem. ?
