St Finnan Loft Posted September 23, 2011 Report Posted September 23, 2011 Here we go again the time of year when we are asked to part with hard earned cash, after reading some for sale adverts in the pigeon press and net I have to wonder what you lads think of it all? A half truth deceives the reader by presenting something believable and using those aspects of the statement that can be shown to be true as good reason to believe the statements are true in entirety, first again, but no mention of first what ,if its club say so , how many members sent etc, if Fed the same. If it’s National we would all know anyway. When words like against the odds, crap location, massive overfly given away, fanciers are best to look at a map and find where the owner flies to, if he is not in the west what about the lads who are really in a crap position that’s the west, we are all aware that anyone in the west whether it’s the club, fed, or Nationalis usually are up against it and you would expect them to hint at that fact but seldom do I hear them mention it.Fanciers should take the time to ensure statements in an advert represent the whole truth. A person deceived by a half truth considers the advert to be fact. The pigeon press needs the revenue from advertising and most fanciers are 100% honest when compiling sale lists and good luck to them if they help to cover there costs it’s the lads who may be conned I worry about.
just ask me Posted September 28, 2011 Report Posted September 28, 2011 great post first thing i always look at is location of the loft
PIGEON_MAN Posted September 28, 2011 Report Posted September 28, 2011 I would say the majority of fanciers buying in new stock are after breeders, unless you are buying in youngbirds to race so things like loft position doesnt really help when choosing a future breeder, unless you can find someone who is packing in the sport and you perhaps can get hold of their breeding pigeons I,m afraid you pays your money and takes your chance weather a bird will breed you winners.

PIGEON_MAN Posted September 28, 2011 Report Posted September 28, 2011 Surely you are contradicting yourself there,as you said a family of birds winning in one area may not win in another part,so what good would position of the loft be any of use to someone who may decide to buy birds from that fancier.
Guest Gareth Rankin Posted September 28, 2011 Report Posted September 28, 2011 Dont know if we are getting are wires crossed but i was replying to you when you where commenting on Just ask me post. i.e. A 500 mile pigeon flying into up north combine is a totally different 500 doo that flys into the west of Scotland.

Why because of the fear of wasting good money on pigeons that fly to an easier location than there own. Not saying that it is as black and white as that, and yes there is nothing wrong in having a gamble, sometimes pays off and sometimes it doesn't, but my personal opinion is to look at loft location when purchasing pigeons.
just ask me Posted September 29, 2011 Report Posted September 29, 2011 what i meant by bad loft location is a when a flyer gets birds into a result when no one else around him is in the result and not living in the golden mile but also a good point make by Gareth
