Guest geordiejen Posted September 17, 2011 Report Posted September 17, 2011 since i dont race pigeons i would like to ask a question.does your best breeding bird or pair come from your friends or does it come from the person who can dig deap in their pocket for the best?can anyone tell me on average how much money it would cost for the best racing pigeon and how much does it cost to race your birds in any one given year.does this question open a can of worms?

HiGeordie, hows it going. Ive spent a couple of quid on doos in the last few yeaqrs but so far my best have been gift birds and a couple I bought at a charity sale., But I do have a few pair i bought last year that I havent tested the young from properly yet. Next year will be better, though Ive said that for a few years now

Guest IB Posted September 18, 2011 Report Posted September 18, 2011 if you worked out how much it cost you would pack them in i would imagine it would be scary and the best birds you will ever get is from friends I keep a spreadsheet of what I spend on my birds. 2010 I didn't buy any stock but it still cost me £1127 - that was just feeding & racing the doos. It's only in the last year or so that I have started exchanging birds with other fanciers. Personally I think that's the best way - lots to learn from it, and on a social rather than 'business' level.
