Michael 123 Posted September 7, 2011 Report Posted September 7, 2011 Hi all Got a young racer in on Monday. Rang the owner and was told to dispose of it as he as had a bad year. Its in good health. Under weight. Don't want to kill it as its a nice bird. I don't keep racers only tumblers. As i am new to this hobby any advise would be great.
Tony C Posted September 7, 2011 Report Posted September 7, 2011 Feed it up for a week or so then liberate it on a fine day somewhere away from your loft...................... or keep it.
Walter swanston Posted September 7, 2011 Report Posted September 7, 2011 The guy who told you to dispose of the pigeon should not be in pigeon fancying. You are completely blameless but stuff like this on an internet site gives us all a bad name.
Michael 123 Posted September 7, 2011 Author Report Posted September 7, 2011 sorry as i said i am new to this. I don't won't to give this site a bad name as i have been given good good advice in the past and wanted to know what my options are
Guest IB Posted September 7, 2011 Report Posted September 7, 2011 Disgraceful position this person has put you in Michael. You don't keep racers so your only option is to try and help the bird get back home. You have contacted the owner so you have an idea where it belongs. Give it a few days to recover then release it as close to its home area as you can. What happens after that is a matter for the owner. But you should still report him to his Union. The bird's ring letters will tell you which one.
Guest pigeondave Posted September 7, 2011 Report Posted September 7, 2011 do as ib says.report the man, your only trying to get it home.
Guest lambrechts31 Posted September 7, 2011 Report Posted September 7, 2011 THIS IS A SHOCKING SITUATION MICK, I WOULD TAKE ADVICE FROM THESE GUYS, RACING PIGEONS GET A BAD ENOUGH DEAL WITHOUT OWNERS TELLING YOU TO DISPOSE OF THEM, LET US KNOW HOW YOU GET ON.
