Guest IB Posted June 15, 2011 Report Posted June 15, 2011 Coronal Mass Ejections occur all the time, with or without 'flare' or sunspot. I think this report is one of many trying to predict what will happen in the transition between one solar cycle and the next, e.g. there's stuff on the web suggesting that earth's magnetic field poles will 'flip' in 2012, with North becoming South and vice versa. What should be of more interest to us IMO is that this report talks exclusively about what this technology is for, predicting space weather & magnetic storms and their possible effects on Earth's physical systems - communications satellites, and electrical induction in oil, gas and water pipelines, and HT power lines. Not a word about affects on any of Earth's biological systems.
