kvkbex Posted August 11, 2009 Report Posted August 11, 2009 Can anyone tell me if you are allowed to keep pigeons on a residential estate?
pjc Posted August 11, 2009 Report Posted August 11, 2009 You would need to check the deeds and any covenents
Guest Posted August 11, 2009 Report Posted August 11, 2009 depends where you are and any local by-laws ,covenants etc that will cover youre area . andy.
retired Posted August 11, 2009 Report Posted August 11, 2009 It would depend on many circumstances for which i can only give simple anwsers im sure others can go through the legal things etc. Some properties have conditions attached with the deeds or in the case of the landlord your tenancy agreement. Also learned today from my own case that any non fixed structure (pigeon loft) if over 15 square metres must have planning permission. If there is no conditions attached to tenancy or deeds on house then i dont think you will have too much problems. Good luck and hope you get them.
Guest Owen Posted August 11, 2009 Report Posted August 11, 2009 Check to see if there are any already there. Then ask the Owner for the details. Failing that, you will have to approach the Council Planning Dept, and ask them where you stand. I would make sure the neighbours are OK with the idea, first, because if the Council get the impression that there could be objections they may put obstacles in your way. Arm yourself with some good photos of some neat lofts to show them so that they will not get the impression that you will create an eyesore. We are fortunate in this area because 2 of the 3 Councilers are involved with pigeons and the 3rd is not anti. So perhaps you should check to see how the Borough Councilers feel because you could have a suporter from one or more of them.
REDROCKET Posted August 11, 2009 Report Posted August 11, 2009 you could do what the gipsies do with there caravan sites wait till a bank holiday that gives you 4 days to get the loft upit and filled with birds and by the time the council gets the paper work together you'll get 3 good years racing. lol
Babybird Posted August 11, 2009 Report Posted August 11, 2009 I asked one neighbour and then banged my 8x 6 shed up, 17 birds later and not a mumble. I don't have them out all day causing a nuisance, nobody seems to care but you should be careful how close you have it to other people's houses
