Guest Jon Woolgar Posted June 4, 2011 Report Posted June 4, 2011 This pigeon has been in our garden in Capel St Mary near Ipswich for the last three or four days. He/she has light blue (cyan) rings on both feet, and though I've managed to take several close-up pictures, I've only been able to see what the right ring says: GB10 J 29449 The other ring also has numbers on, but they're much less bold. (They start 5247 and there may be more numbers, but I can't see any from my photos) There's plenty of food and water about the garden, so I'm sure he's happy, but we're not sure what to do with him now. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks! Jon
Guest Jon Posted June 4, 2011 Report Posted June 4, 2011 PS I suppose that phoning the Royal Pigeon Racing Association would be the best thing, given the GB prefix, but in the mean time is there anything further I ought to do? As I mentioned, there's more food than he/she could want and multiple bird baths.
billt Posted June 4, 2011 Report Posted June 4, 2011 Hi Jon, Thanks for reporting the pigeon, unless you can catch and contain the bird there is little we can do, the ring no. with the J prefix is a national ring and as you say should be reported to the RPRA, it may clear in a few days as you are caring for it, Thanks again, Bill
