yeboah Posted April 23, 2011 Report Posted April 23, 2011 I only tried the darkness myself for the first time a few years ago ,and i have to say with fantastic results,I had to get a system that suited me and not the birds they were darkened at eight o'clock and because i was away to work early relied on a friend a non fancier to open up the shutters and feed and water them ,the only time this was convenient to my friend was 12 noon so that was the system we used but i must point out it was to the second and never missed ,we fed them very lightly at noon but after evening exercise as much as they could eat for no more than ten minutes once training was complete and they had entered the transporter they were then treated as widowhood pigeons i took two weeks holiday and trained them as such taking them to 20 mls on three consecutive days (weather permitting) and released the hens first in two's every 2 minutes then the cocks in two's as the hens ,they then got to run with each other in the boxes until i got home and separated them ,once they had figured it out they always came in order of release unless they were struck never circling when released from my hand this is when you have got them 100% health wise when they are like this you couldn't shut them out ,the hard bit is getting them 100% big tip get them all one age and don't introduce a stranger to the team ,Good Luck

If they havent just been weaned i feel you'd have missed the boat so to speak.
